The best band at Live Earth (not who you'd think)

Sun Jul 08, 2007 at 06:35:05 PM PDT

In theory, it's hard for me to claim to know the best band of the Live Earth because I didn't watch it. Indeed, it nearly slipped by me entirely as we don't have a television.

I did catch some footage on the net, but it did nothing for me as the footage I caught was entirely out of context.

However, I remembered hearing they pulled in a small band from Antarctica so they could claim concerts on all seven continents.

I looked it up and found Nunatak.

Seriously check out this indie rock-folk band of scientists -- they are clearly the star of Live Earth.

IN-09: Sodrel... Pest Control...

My wife and I were driving through Scottsburg, Indiana, today when we saw these signs together... we just had to laugh (and of course stop and take a photo)

This sounds about right don't you think?

I finally got a Baron Hill sign in my yard (right across the street from a busy gas station).

I know the Hill campaign is doing phone banking nightly so go help them out!

If you want to read the briefings being read by your congressional representatives to get up to speed on current issues and policies, get over to OpenCRS.com!

Subtitled "Congressional Research Reports for the Public," this website is a project of the Center for Democracy & Technology and aims to get the policy briefs being written by the non-partisan Congressional Research Service into hands of the citizens.

I feel the urge to wash my hard drive

When I entered grad school I bought a boatload of discounted software. I figured I'd never have the opportunity to purchase affordable software again. Mind you, I've been so busy I haven't had time to use any of it.

Tonight I did, however, and so help me it put Windows on my beloved Apple PowerBook.... aaarrrgggghhh... I feel so dirty.

Mother Nature vs. Dubya

Sun Aug 29, 2004 at 09:27:01 PM PDT

My father-in-law reports watching Bush on the local Lima, Ohio TV station.

Apparently a huge storm rolled in and knocked out the power toward the end of his speech. He then couldn't get out of town on the pre-planned blockade route because of flash-flooding as more than 2 inches of rain fell in 15 minutes.

Hmmm.... is mother nature trying to tell us something? Don't we wish. Anyway it'd be lost on Lima which is very Republican-- so much so that every Republican nominee has visited the town.
