Harry Reid throws the Dkos dogs a bone

Tue Nov 06, 2007 at 02:08:46 PM PDT

Harry Reid just threw us a bone.

His "Friends of Harry Reid" group has just sent out a letter saying that he will vote against the nomination of Mukasey for attorney general.  How nice.  Of course, in a Senate where Lieberman, Feinstein and Schumer at the very least will be voting with the Republicans, Mukasey will of course be approved.

Worse, Reid's letter makes some perfectly good points.  I'll copy you below the fold.

Julie Amero (sub. teacher w porn popups) has new lawyer!

Tue Feb 27, 2007 at 04:31:42 PM PDT

The other day the story of Julie Amero, the Norwich substitute teacher who is about to be sentenced for 4 counts of injuring minors with pornography (which could be up to 40 years), was reported again in this diary by HollywoodOz.

http://www.dailykos.com/...

Many people expressed concern for Julie's plight.  There is new news in the case today.  subtropolis told me about it in the old diary, but I doubt whether other people will read it since the diary has long since left the front page.  So here's the news:  Julie Has a New Lawyer!!  And Lord knows she needs one.  Here's the link subtropolis gave me.  But there's more.  Follow me below the fold.

Tim Johnson sponsors bill post Stroke!!

Fri Feb 16, 2007 at 10:45:28 AM PDT

It's official.  Tim Johnson isn't just reading memos, as reported last week. http://www.dailykos.com/...

Today, Reuters reports that Tim has co-sponsored the Farm Relief Act of 2007  http://www.reuters.com/...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A still-hospitalized Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota, whose brain surgery two months ago raised the possibility that Democrats could lose control of the Senate, has co-sponsored his first piece of legislation since he fell ill, his office said on Thursday.
While Johnson remains focused on daily therapy, the Democratic senator has read memos from his staff and has signed on as a co-sponsor of the Emergency Farm Relief Act of 2007, his office said."This is a first step for the senator," said Drey Samuelson, Johnson's chief of staff. "As time allows, he has begun reviewing work. True to form, Tim is a hard worker."

50 State Strategy Score Sheet from Dr. Dean

Wed Nov 08, 2006 at 10:40:54 AM PDT

I had hoped that Chairman Howard Dean would make it clear where exactly the 50 State Strategy worked to help give us the majority in both the Senate and the House.  And Howard, as usual, did not disappoint.  Follow me below the fold to read how your DNC contributions and Democracy Bonds helped create unprecedented wins for Democrats in Ohio, Kansas, South Dakota, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Indiana and more.

Three cheers for Chairman Dean, and may Paul Begala eat a batch of boogers in honor of his nose-picker put down of the 50 State Strategy staffers.  And just a reminder that you might want to up your Democracy Bond.

Who the heck is the new Lieberman??? REALLY?

Fri Aug 11, 2006 at 01:51:59 PM PDT

Joe has recently made some very, very weird public statements that have made me realize that I never really knew how much of an egomaniacal nutjob Lieberman was.  This article appeared today in the Boston Globe: Independent Lieberman: He can now be himself
This article and and this diary by sfluke have thoroughly terrified me.
Lieberman said his independent run is giving him the freedom to be more like himself in the election.

"I have been a Democrat. I will remain a Democrat," Lieberman said. "(But) in some ways this turn of events which I did not desire, but now gives me the opportunity to be what I always have been -- an independent Democrat."

What will Lieberman do now that he can "be himself".

Leahy&GMpac obtain free Credit Monitoring for Vets due to VA Identity Theft Scandal

Thu Jun 22, 2006 at 11:40:51 AM PDT

I just received the attached letter from Senator Leahy and the Green Mountain PAC.  Senator Leahy and the 3,000 members of the Green Mountain PAC have succeeded in doing something that will help the veterans and active duty personnel whose identities were stolen from the VA due to the criminal negligence of their personnel and Secretary Jim Nicholson.  Veterans will now have one year of free credit monitoring to help them cope with this problem.

Do you know jack about either cut or run?Wacked Metaphor from Bushw/Poll

Sat Jun 17, 2006 at 04:38:06 AM PDT

Bush and Rove have no idea about what 'cut' means, let alone 'run'.  And considering their general inability to work cooperatively with anyone, I'm not sure they understand 'and' either.  I'm not surprised that Republicans repeat this metaphor, but you'd think that Democrats could manage to look up the meaning of these words and throw the real meanings right back in Rove's fake teeth.

When I first heard them repeating 'won't cut and run' over and over, I first thought, "What the heck do they think was cut?"  and my mental picture was something like this (only in Iraq, not Nevada):
Sunset from the Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Dayton, Nev., tries to toss the rope to camel wrangler Shorty Smith from Tasmania after a camel race Friday September 6, 2002 in Virginia City, Nev.

Follow below the fold to read about Bush's colossal foolishness in using nautical metaphors in a desert country and what those nautical metaphors really mean.

Dean 50 State Strategy RESULTS POSTED, $ Target now 7500/W Poll

Thu Jun 15, 2006 at 10:59:34 AM PDT

Gov. Howard Dean, M.D.'s campaign to attract 5000 donations in two weeks is succeeding so well that he has upped his target to 7500 donations.  He sent out an email this morning informing DNC members of that fact.  Attached to the letter is a report that Gov Dean had Tom McMahon, the DNC Executive Director, prepare on the successes and progress of the 50 state strategy to-date.

Already this project, which we all envisioned as bearing real benefits years away, perhaps in 2008, has yielded some impressive successes.

The 50 state strategy reminds me of an old quote from Robert Heinlein,

Yes, Virginia, the game is rigged, but if you don't play, you can't win

When the machine breaks, if you're playing you can win, even if it's rigged against you.  Perhaps Mississippi is the best example!  Follow below the fold for Tom's report:

MoveOn is holding its own primary to determine whom it should endorse in the CT Senate primary.  Unfortunately, only CT MoveOn members who joined prior to May 18, 2006 at a CT address are eligible to vote.  The results should be interesting!

I hope all MoveOn members in CT will join me in watching their email boxes for letters from Lamont and Lieberman, soliciting their vote in this E-Primary.  No matter whom you support in this race, you should definitely remember to vote during the 24 hours the E-Polls are open on May 25th.

Vote for Bernie Sanders NOW?

Mon May 02, 2005 at 12:37:14 PM PDT

http://www.rutlandherald.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage

The above link goes to a poll in the Rutland Herald.  Early reports show it is being freeped for the current Repug governor of VT, Douglas. You may not be able to vote for the absolutely excellent, progressive, Independent Bernie Sanders in the real election, but you can vote for him now!!

Bernie never lets Greenspan get away unquestioned with speaking bullshit about the economy.  Bernie is sponsoring a LoanShark control bill to curb the interest and fees charged by credit card companies.  Bernie is the Congress's most vociferous and effective proponent of retirees' pension and health benefits.  In short, Bernie is there for you, the average working person.  It is time for you to be there for him, if you can.

P.S. A donation would be nice too. You can donate and look at what Bernie's doing at Bernie's campaign home page
