What if Kerry promised OBL's head

Thu Nov 18, 2004 at 05:45:58 PM PDT

What if Kerry had said, "I hereby promise America that during my first-term in office, Osama Bin Laden will be captured or killed.  If I fail to accomplish this, as George Bush has failed, I will not seek a second term."

The question is now moot, of course.  Yet it is ideas like this that still haunt me.

It may well be Monday-morning quarterbacking, but it could be useful to hear similar ideas from others that they feel could have made a distinct electoral difference.

Texas Death Penalty Controversy

Wed Oct 06, 2004 at 04:36:02 PM PDT

Just saw a video on video.msn.com, Tom Brokaw detailing a story about a Houston, Texas crime lab that has been found to have made egregious errors in forensic testing. (sorry, problem with the site link)

Already, one prisoner on death row is going to be pardoned.

I'd like to see President Bush questioned on this: "Mr. President, at least one man on death row in Texas is about to be released because of incompetence in the Houston crime lab.  What would you do if it is discovered that one or more of the men you put to death had been wrongly convicted?"

Might come to nothing, but there it could be dangerous for Bush.  Especially because Kerry's opposition to the death penalty is a well-known position that he has never wavered on.
