Murtha and ABSCAM, say it ain't so...

I was very skeptical about this when I ran across it on slate today.  http://www.slate.com/...
(Especially given the anti-kos tone of a couple of the items)
This is where being in the majority becomes difficult.

Why the R's are in trouble now, but not before...

Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 03:13:39 PM PDT

I have had this discussion with many of my wary liberal friends, why are people just now turning against the Republicans?  Why did they not respond to earlier failures?  These are good questions.  I have some theories.  I have worked on political campaigns since 1996.  I have preached this my theory for years.  In 2005, I personally used the approach I am about to describe to help take out 2 Republican incumbents.

AZ-8 is likely D pickup

Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 09:44:06 PM PDT

This race could not have gone better for us.  Gabby Giffords, a good moderate Democrat, easily won the Democratic nomination in CD8.  AZ-8 is a leaning Republican district were the right Democrat can win.  There were three potentially good Democrats in Patty Weiss and Jeff Latas.  Giffords showed the strength of her campaign organization by building an impressive campaign and through strong fundraising.  But our primary is only half of the story...

On the Republican side, ultra-conservative one note candidate Randy Graf eked out a victory over the more moderate and presumably electable Steve Huffman.  This was in spite of quite a lot of spending on the part of the RNC.  This was a big loss for the Republican establishment under George Bush.
