I just saw this Harris Interactive poll with results of the "What do you think are the two most important issues for the government to address?" question going back to 1994. Among the possible issue choices was "Energy", which received either a "not mentioned as specific issue", <0.5% or 1 % from 2/94 through 9/05. "Energy", as the issue, then spiked up to 4% for the 11/05 result and has remained at the 3-4% level through 2/06.

The ignorance of this issue is staggering, even worse than I would have guessed. What will it take to make most Americans aware of how Peak Oil will likely affect them?
