I sit here, in pain, and feeling selfish for it. Anyone who worked as hard and beautifully as Soror Chisholm did has obviously earned a reward and rest and peace in the hereafter. Why do I feel selfish? Another national treasure has been lost, and one who inspired so many in different ways. I look to the hills and wonder from whence cometh our help?

Didn't see if this was posted anywhere else, but this is my non-snark-and-bitchy contribution before bed. I always think, if I've pissed off more than three people on three different threads, I might need to check myself. I mean, two folks is fine, par for the course.

Okay, one more time for the historical map of the US, and the current map voting breakdown. Sigh. I'm too tired to to come up with something snarky. I think what I said previously was despite the whole Red-Boo, Blue-Yay sentiment, the Blue states weren't necessarily pro-equality, just because they were anti-slavery.

Then I wondered what we could really take from these maps. Someone else on here or Rox Populi or some other progressive blog (they're running together in my brain right now) pointed out that the Northwest/Mountain region is more libertarian, but pro-environment, etc. So that may have more to do with "swinging" left than an actual ideology shift.

My first entry is to come out as a Liberal Christian. I'm not perfect, I've been cussing all day, but my beliefs are mine, and I'm tired of Christianity being co-opted by fear-mongering homo- and xenophobic conservatives.

I'm not trying to convert anyone, and I have the utmost respect for others' beliefs/value systems. But, no matter if I stay a Dem or enter a 3rd party, all progressive voices have a say in taking back America. I'm here, I'm a Christian, Get Used to It!
