I'm a misplaced Texan in Chicago. Now it's lookin' more like I'm home than "misplaced." ...oh right. I'm 25 and I'm a girl.

The Party of...Changing the Rules To Suit Themselves.

Fri Nov 19, 2004 at 05:51:47 AM PDT

The first time I noticed was when it seemed that Bush figured the rules didn't apply to him. "I guess   I'll testify, but it has to be WITH Cheney, and ...we won't testify under oath." Um, what? Who says they're allowed to do that? They do.

Do Iowa Residents Want To Keep Their Caucus?

Mon Nov 15, 2004 at 12:38:05 PM PDT

...or is it just Vilsack? When I was out in Iowa knocking on doors, I got the feeling these people just wanted to be left alone.

The majority of them either weren't going to the caucus, or didn't even know what it was. There's really not much you can say when a little old lady smiles at you and says "I'm not going to the caucus, dear, but I'm going to vote for him!" You can explain to her that she has to go to the caucus in order to "vote" for a candidate, but somewhere in the middle of the explanation, her eyes glaze over and you can tell she wants to go back inside and watch television instead of talking to the cold out-of-stater (in the orange hat?) standing on her doorstep.

Evangelicalism in voting?

All this talk about values and morals and how those things helped Bush is driving me absolutely crazy. I want to scream every time I hear mention of any of it. ...All of my instincts tell me that Bush is only a christian when the cameras are on.

I was raised in the Southern Baptist Church. My mother was the church secretary up until I was in middle school and we switched churches, and we attended (at least) three church services a week. Hanging around with the christian teenagers was quite an experience in hypocracy.

What is it about Barack?

Wed Oct 27, 2004 at 04:43:52 AM PDT

Last Thursday, I had planned to attend a pre-debate rally for Barack Obama, but as it turned out, game seven of the NLCS kept me at home in front of the television. The next night, trying to get that Astros loss out of my system, I went to an announced rally with Barack way out on the West side, with nothing but a mapquest print-out and a lousy sense of direction.
