OH-18: Republicans Lie?? R. Novakula
Wed Nov 01, 2006 at 02:52:32 PM PDT
With some good news coming out in the last few days like the NRCC is pulling funds from the district
AP
and todays poll showing
Zack Space at 58% vs Padgetts 33%
Washington Post
I came across what was to me one of the most shocking realizations of the campaign. No not mine, but R. Novakula Douchebag of Liberty might just have come to the realization that Republicans lie, and what makes it worse is they were lieing to him.

OH-18: NRCC $3,153,072.33 and counting
Thu Oct 26, 2006 at 09:46:21 AM PDT
268,420 is the total number of voters in the 2004 race for
OH-18.
$3,153,072.33 is the total spent by the NRCC in
OH-18 as of
10/25/06. When we put the two numbers together we see that the NRCC has spent
~$11.75 per voter in the district so far.
Last tuesdays total was $2,393,514.60, so we see that they have dumped another $759,557.73 into the district over the last 8 days. Or approx. $2.82 per 2004 voter since last tuesday. Zack Space could really use a few dollars to fight back.
More after tbe bump...
OH-18: NRCC $2,393,514.60 and counting...

Last tuesday, I typed up a litle
diary noting that the NRCC had dumped $1,684,477.62 into the race against
Zack Space since september. The NRCC have been dumping money into this race so fast, in fact that I had barely finished my diary before they had dumped in another 12k. Well since a week had gone by, I thought it was time to revisit the state of the NRCC money pit.
Why do some just not get it?

I will not link to the offending comment or source. I am certain that you have all seen them before so no sense in giving them any more voice than they already have. But I still find myself stunned to see examples of it.
How does any sane Democrat argue that Joe Lieberman should have been left alone, because gee look at him running as an independant. How is the fact that many of us felt he was a traitor to progressive values and should be removed from the senate mean that we are to blame? Especially considering that old low joe has proved since the Democratic Party primary in Connecticut that he isn't really a Democrat.

That's right $1,684,477.62 spent as of 10/9/6 by the NRCC.
A Congressional District that Tom "I know nothing, but look at all these kids" Reynolds described as
A ruby red Republican district. According to the Cook Political Report, OH-18 "has a PVI of R+6, meaning it voted 6-points more Republican than the nation in the 2000 and 2004 elections."

Schecule E for Report FEC-241361
The polls currently show Space leading the unethical politically, ethically and monetarily bankrupt GOP nominee by 45 percent to 36 percent.

However 1.6 million buys an awful lot of negative mailings and phone banks. Kos said Ohio is one of their 'firewall' states and believe me, in this district you see them spending money like it was water. Also excuse me for the lame poll.

After dumping another 4k for phonebanking into the race today the total is now $1,696,726.26.
So that's another 12k total from the last report I saw.
Ney formally withdraws
Mon Aug 14, 2006 at 08:15:08 AM PDT
Cleveland.com is reporting that Bob Ney has officially filed the paperwork to withdraw from the race. This will trigger the state rules calling for a special primary in mid september. The Tuscarawas Board of Elections will make that determination by tomorrow morning.
Padgett has already been cleared to run in the special primary. I point this out as the sloppy reporting in the article states only that there had been questions about whether she could run.
So good bye to a few million of Ohio taxpayers money. Hello special Republican advertising season. Lets just hope they knock the snot out of each other.
Bob Ney runs away from Bush

I received a little missive today from my congressman, Bob Ney. On official stationary, prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense. I learned what a grave thread illegal immigration was to Ohio. To quote...
"Just in the last month, there have been three documented instances in the 18th Congressional District where local law enforcement officials apprehended illegal aliens, but then were ordered by federal immigration officials to let the illegal aliens go-a practice known as "catch and release." Illegal immigration has become a major problem-not just in border states like California and Arizona, but now even in our own backyard."
