Romney scared of American people- skips Youtube Debate

Fri Jul 27, 2007 at 06:40:55 PM PDT

Mitt Romney confirmed today that he will skip the September 17th debate hosted by Youtube and CNN.  From the Washington Post's The Trail

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney said Friday that he will not participate in a debate on Sept. 17 co-sponsored by CNN and YouTube, calling the debate not "respectful" enough to be part of the process of selecting a presidential nominee.

Second Republican Congressman calls for Iraq pullout to be considered

Sun Jan 09, 2005 at 07:06:03 PM PDT

For the first time ever, my congressman has done something courageous instead of following whatever Tom Delay tells him to do.  Howard Coble, the Republican representing the North Carolina's 6th district has said the U.S. should consider pulling out of Iraq.

Coble is one of the first members of Congress to suggest a withdrawal publicly.
The 10-term congressman said in an interview with the News & Record of Greensboro that he's "fed up with picking up the newspaper and reading that we've lost another five or 10 of our young men and women in Iraq."

A Day in the Life of Joe Republican

Wed Dec 08, 2004 at 04:08:11 PM PDT

(Not Mine- E-mailed to me)

Joe gets up at 6 am and pours water into the coffeemaker to start the morning.  The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water quality standards.  With his first swallow of coffee, Joe takes his daily medications, which are safe because at least one stupid commie liberal fought to ensure they are, and that they work as advertised.  All but $10 of Joe's medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan thanks to a group of liberal union workers who fought for paid medical insurance.  Now, Joe gets it too.

Man set himself on fire; freepers find funny

Mon Nov 15, 2004 at 02:54:04 PM PDT

From DU- MSNBC is reporting that a man lit himself on fire in front of one of the White House gates.  The secret service managed to put it out before the man died, but apparently about 30% of his body was burned.

Apparently (I wasn't alive then) this happened back in Vietnam too, with buddhists.  It's really incredibly sad that this man felt like he had no other options.

The freepers, of course, find this hilarious.  They really disgust me.  Only go over if you want to be offended.

In Depth Study of Vote of Florida Counties

Wed Nov 10, 2004 at 05:31:36 PM PDT

So, with all the news of the Florida counties having large Republican swings, I decided to do the most scientific study I could to see if it was true.

Here's what I did- I found the percentages that Bush and Gore got in 2000 and Bush and Kerry got in 2004.  I found how much Bush won or lost by (i.e. if Bush won a county 52-47, he won by 5 and if he lost 47-52 he "won" by -5) for every county in both elections.  I then subtracted the difference in 2004 from the difference in 2000.  So these numbers represent the increase in Bush's margin of victory from 2000 to 2004 per county.  I then seperated the numbers by what type of machine they used in 2000 found here and 2004 found here.  Here are the results . . .

UNC-CH young democrats update

Tue Oct 12, 2004 at 03:47:14 PM PDT

I'm a member of UNC young democrats and we've had a major voter registration push here ever since the beginning of school.  Well, North Carolina's registration deadline was Oct. 8th and they reported our final numbers at Monday's meeting.  We registered 3,000 students, while the College Republicans registered 190.  (It's really kind of sad here)

We've also got the Democratic rolls for the college for a major GOTV effort after we get back from our Fall Break.  And we're pushing early voting, which is right beside campus, because the college gets split into multiple precincts and its really confusing.

I'm a freshman and I can't tell you how nice it is to move from rural N.C. to Chapel Hill.  People actually agree with me!  It's amazing!
