Bill Clinton IN STOCKTON CA TONIGHT

Wed Nov 01, 2006 at 01:25:18 PM PDT

(A very-last-minute high-profile event, so I think [hope?] that a diary is justified, and the previous diary has rolled off the list.)

Former President Bill Clinton will campaign TONIGHT with Jerry McNerney at a Get Out The Vote Rally in Stockton CA at 9pm!

McNerney is going to get rid of incumbent Republican Richard Pombo, one of the "13 most corrupt members of Congress" and a walking environmental disaster.  McNerney is a clean energy expert with a PhD, not a professional politician. Pombo is so bad that the two losers in the Republican Primary have endorsed McNerney.

AND HEY, it's a chance to see The Big Dog! AND to make the press see how many zillions of people will turn up on just a few hours' notice!

Info and pre-registration below the fold.

Beginner's Guide to Canvassing (Streetwalking!)

Sat Oct 07, 2006 at 06:08:38 AM PDT

I'm a beginner at canvassing, but I've found it to be much better than being miserable at home and ranting to my friends. Actually doing something makes me feel much better about politics!

So here are some hints from a couple of times walking suburban streets for my candidate. I hope they'll be useful, and I hope that you will contribute your own hints. Those of you who are canvassing for the first time this weekend, or who have experience, please add a few notes to this list. I'll update in a day or so.

Let's all get out there, and let's all be effective! So look at the "lessons learned" below the fold!

VOLUNTEER! Don't just Sit On Your Butts!

Sat Sep 09, 2006 at 05:13:10 PM PDT

Jerry McNerney is running against Pombo, one of the "13 most corrupt" members of Congress; the "worst" anti-environmentalist in the entire Congress.

I've been walking part of Jerry's precinct, knocking on doors. It's pleasant work, and people are happy to see you 90% of the time. (The walk lists don't include Republicans.)

But I was one of only three people from the Bay Area, and this district can be reached on BART (subway) from San Francisco! I'm terrified that this kind of passive snoozing is happening across the country.

Where are the volunteers? Where IS everybody?

Don't just whine and write piss-o-grams to your friends; VOLUNTEER at  http://www.jerrymcnerney.org/ In other parts of the country, go to http://www.democrats.org/... or just call your local candidate.

LET'S ALL GET OUT THERE and blow those Rethuglicans away! It's actually FUN, and you'll feel MUCH better having taken real action against BushCo. Taking action always cures the blues.
