23 Brave Americans Who Said, “No, Mr. President,...

...We Won’t Give You The Authorization You Seek to Go To War".
While I was researching information for a recent diary I was nagged by a question: If current rabble-rouser du jour, Chuck Hagel, was hesitant about the war before it started why the hell did he vote for it? It turns out he was just being a good little republican lapdog; respecting the Office of the President while ignoring the nagging thoughts that going to Iraq was a terrible mistake. Coward.
Hagel for President! Um, Maybe Not.

Now before you go rampaging down to the comments to rip me a new one you may try reading the diary first. Read it fully because although I might have a lot of decent things to say about Hagel you should know I reside firmly in the land of the reality-based.

Well today yours truly was hit with a punch in the gut delivered by a very nice doctor.
My husband will be undergoing heart bypass surgery tomorrow. We were hoping for a couple of stents, but the arteries were so blocked that it was not possible.
Rant Time: Concern Trolls Can Just...

BITE ME.
A Rant.
After a week of facing accusations of being a member of the Taliban arm of the Democratic Party, The Party of al Queda, and a hacker of lame-ass political websites, the last thing I'm going to respond nicely to is a call for more polite discourse on Daily Kos; a call to take the higher road; a call for showing respect to our representatives in Washington, a call for bi-partisanship.
Fuck that.
What Blogs/Websites Are You Reading?

It's been awhile since anyone posted as diary with this question and I always enjoyed hearing about new sites not currently in my repertoire.
You SUCK for not writing about...

BLANK on the front page.
Daily Kos is not the Chicago Tribune. It is not The New York Times. It is not The Los Angeles Times. It is not the Eye on the World.
Well, it is sometimes, just not on the front page.
Kos is not a reporter. Kos is not a pundit. Kos has a soapbox (an incredible one), but he is not a preacher. Kos is not a cult leader--despite the wishes of some in the traditional media to pin that label on him. He might have a stalker or two (don't know), but he does not, a far as I can tell, have hordes of worshippers.
Surprise, surprise, surprise! Daily Kos is broke *again*. [updated]

As someone who has watched the ebb and flow of DKos for more than a year, it always amuses me when it hits one of its "DKos is broken" cycles. It seems to happen every three or four months.
Whether it's profanity, "breaking news" diaries, or controversial diaries, there raises from the crowd a hue and cry of despair. "DK is not what it can be!"

The song that Bush will NEVER sing.
With apologies to Green Day.
jinx Audio pronunciation of "jinx" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (jngks)
n.
1. A person or thing that is believed to bring bad luck.
2. A condition or period of bad luck that appears to have been caused by a specific person or thing.
George Bush is a jinx. He has jinxed everything he has every touched and, thanks to The Supreme Court, among other things, he was given the power to jinx America.
We are jinxed.
"F*tzm*s". It's about respect, or the lack of it.

Yesterday in the
Kill The Fitzmas Talk diary, I wrote something that was soundly ignored. I almost hoped it might get a "marginal" or a "party pooper" comment, but not a peep. Then I reposted a piece of the comment in a later pro-Fmas (this term will be used from this point on for obvious reasons), and still, nothing.
I have to admit I wondered why the two comments sat there like slabs in their respective diaries generating no response whatsoever. Did they become lost in the celebratory comments? Lumped in with the party poopers, but not offensive enough to pay attention to? Was I late to the party, yet again?

I had this weird dream that the Bush Administration was under a cloud of corruption and things were finally going completely and utterly wrong for George Bush (despite all the groups praying for him). The most amazing part of the dream was that the general public was finally becoming aware of what I knew to be fact since day one. And when I woke up...I discovered it all was coming true! Yeehaw!

Who is this man and why is he "erping"? The answer is below the fold.
Hope you enjoy.

According to Newsweek P. Bush (I'm having difficulty typing out the "P" word lately) heard the pleas of Governor Blanco for assistance, made a promise to help and went to bed.
In Bush World scores of dying and desperate people in need in a state that he fled to on September 11th wasn't worth staying awake for, I guess.

According to this article from
The Wall Street Journal regarding the timeline of some of the Katrina coverage, it's pretty easy to see where Chertoff might have gotten his "dodged the bullet" falsehood.
