My Plea to Rep. Welch of Vermont

Tue Nov 13, 2007 at 08:22:57 AM PDT

OK, It's one of those days when I just can't take it anymore.  I'm sending another letter to my congressman.  Will it do any good?

Dear Representative Welch,

I am having trouble maintaining my cool as I sit here at work.  I don't know what else to do, so I am writing you a letter.  I am an electrical engineer in the semiconductor industry, I have lived in Vermont for 8 years, and I wholeheartedly supported your candidacy to represent me in Congress.  However, right now I hold intense rage at the inaction and capitulation of Congress to the unprecedented power grab of the Bush Administration.  And therefore, I am passionately angry at you.  At this moment I (and many of my fellow Vermonters) are wondering how we can possibly communicate our rage and fear to you, because it seems that you just do not listen to your constituents.  And in the absence of your hearing and acting on our behalf, my core being, my creativity, money, and energy will be directed to doing all I can to replace you with someone with courage and conviction to preserve our system of government.

Snow: Congress has no power

Thu Mar 22, 2007 at 10:42:18 AM PDT

I can't believe what I just heard!  On CBS News from Tony Snow:

The Legislative Branch has no oversight responsibility over the White House.

This is the argument he uses to defend the administration's "offer" to have Karl Rove come in for a private, off-the-record "chat."

This is my first diary.  I am fuming, and fed up with the lawlessness of this Administration.  We need to ask our legislators what they think about this assertion, especially the Republican ones.  At least, every Congressperson needs to hear this arrogance, and we need to hear what they intend to do about it.

I am behind my Senator Leahy's demand for public testimony from Karl Rove and Harriet Miers, under oath, regarding the politicized prosecutor purge. I hope he sticks to his guns and sticks up for Congress, for the people, once and for all.
