Clinton says you better vote for hope
Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 02:36:01 PM PDT
In a public appearance, Clinton said the following:
If one candidate is trying to scare you, and the other one is trying to get you to think; if once candidate is appealing to your fears, and the other one is appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope.
Odd? That was the Clinton line in 2004. At least, it was the Bill Clinton line.
Clinton, Edwards, and Obama's phony insurance plans
Sun Sep 30, 2007 at 06:52:54 PM PDT
Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama all have essentially the same health plan. They all want to force everybody to buy health insurance, and none of them have a credible plan to cap or cut costs. The backdoor taxes they propose funnel a tremendous amount of money into the pockets of HMOs and do nothing to address the health care crisis in America.
Chuck Schumer's homeborrower bailout
Thu Sep 13, 2007 at 02:29:50 PM PDT
I realize that Senator Schumer is from New York, and that Wall Street is also in New York, but his latest bailout plan goes beyond ordinary pandering.
Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-NY) introduced legislation today that would significantly enhance the ability of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to both provide capacity for lenders to refinance borrowers trapped in subprime loans and bring relief to the increasingly troubled "jumbo" market sector.
Dear Democrats: not one thin dime
Mon Jul 02, 2007 at 08:36:34 PM PDT
Have a good hard look at this penny, Nancy Pelosi. Study it, Rahm. Admire the noble profile of Lincoln, Howard Dean. This is the last cent you'll be getting from me.

Dear Congress: Stop Funding the War
Thu May 03, 2007 at 01:40:26 PM PDT
The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives:
I am writing as a citizen of the United States and a resident of your district, the 8th District of California, to beg you to no longer fund President Bush's adventure in Iraq.

Dear vast right wing conspiracy,
In your face!
Love,
Liberal America

Allow me to explain the concept of "daily reach". This site now reaches about 700 out of every million web users, every single day. 0.07% might not sound like a lot, but it's huge. On May 1, 2006, 1-in-500 readers of the web stopped by this site. As we shall see after the jump, this popularity is just a hint of the success that's happening here.
Homophobic California Constitutional Amendment Fails
Wed Dec 21, 2005 at 09:14:45 PM PDT
The hilarious and frightening organization known as
Family Research Council, in partnership with other famous proponents of ignorance such as Focus on the Family and Eagle Forum, have been circulating a petition in California to put the
California Constitutional Marriage Amendment on the ballot in June 2006. Among the dozen or so hate amendments petitioning for the 2006 ballot, the FRC backs this one (summary according to the California Secretary of State):
Amends the California Constitution to provide that a marriage between a man and a woman is the only legal union that shall be valid or recognized in California. Amendment bars domestic partnerships from being valid or recognized as legal unions in California.
California State and Local update
Tue Nov 02, 2004 at 09:15:55 PM PDT
California chose Kerry, but not by the 100-to-0 margin he deserves. And Boxer appears to have dismantled her little-known Repub challenger Jones, by a 20% margin or so. But there are many, many state and local initiatives, some of which are important, and I will update you on them here:
- Prop 1A is passing by a giant margin. I think this has the potential for ruinous, Prop. 13-style consequences, but the state really went for it.
- The sunshine proposition is also going to win handily
- 60 is winning and 62 is losing, meaning our primary system will remain the same.
- Much to my dismay, the state has voted overwhelmingly to forbid private citizens from filing unfair business practice lawsuits. Under this Prop. only he Attorney General and certain defined plaintiffs have standing to sue.
- Prop. 69 is passing easily. Prop. 69 maintains a DNA database of all people who have ever been arrested (not convicted, or even charged) in connection with a felony crime.
