Destroying the Party

Thu May 08, 2008 at 05:01:13 AM PDT

Here is one reason I won’t vote for Obama if Hillary Clinton is not the Democratic nominee.  A failed McCain presidency would be better for the Democratic party than a failed Obama presidency.

Charlie Rose discusses blogs

Tue Feb 15, 2005 at 07:33:53 AM PDT

According to Wa Po, Charlie Rose will discuss blogs with Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit, Andrew Sullivan of New Republic, Wonkette.com's Ana Marie Cox, and Joe Trippi (blog name noticeably absent, presumably a guest because of supposed role in uniting Dean & the blog world).

I have a big problem with this lineup.

No Mandate Week

Fri Nov 05, 2004 at 05:48:31 AM PDT

We should make next week no mandate week.  We need to push this, because obviously our brave & competent media will not.  W won by 3 million plus a few out of more than 120 million.  More than 55 million people voted against him.  That's no mandate in anyone's eyes but the dicks on the Repub side.

We need to sign petitions, sne emails & especially send snail mail letting Congress & W know that there is no mandate.

If the White House receives 20 million pieces of mail, each explaining to W the difference between a mandate & barely winning, it would at least get some media attention.  Knowing our media, not much attention, but enough that maybe the Dems in Congress will remember they'll have support for being 'obstructionist'

If the media can't count, we can.  NO MANDATE.

Hopes & Beliefs

Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 07:44:01 AM PDT

I believe that an economic reckoning is coming, probably in the next 2 years.

I hope it knocks the red states back to 1931.

I believe that Bush, reveling in his annointment by his base, will now work to dismantle Social Security, create tax policies shifting even more tax burden from corporations and the investor class to those whose income is from wages, and in general destroy the middle class as we know it.

I hope that all those who voted on what they call moral values are left with only their values to pay for food, clothing, and shelter.

I believe that the red states, with their hatred

Back to the economy

Sat Oct 30, 2004 at 07:41:08 AM PDT

Per WaPo 10/30:
Economy rose 3.7%, below the concensus 4.3% expected
Over W's full term, average growth rate 2.7%, compared to Clinton's 2-term 3.7%.  Jimmy Carter managed 3.3% over his single term.
Labor Dept. reported 2.4% growth in wages, the SLOWEST growth rate ON RECORD, and not enough to keep up with inflation.
Wage growth has slowed for 4 straight years
Also -the share of economy going to wages is now 45.4% (DOWN from the 49.5% when W took office)while corporate profits have gone UP from 7.8% to 10.1%

I now know what the bulge in Bush's back was - - the WaPo editor is so far up his ass, he's now coming out his spine.
10/19 edition looks like Bush family album
P. 4 (main political page) has pic of Bush (and of Gore, but NO KERRY)
P. 6 in story otherwise focused on early voting in Fla, pic of GHW & Bar Bush voting in TEXAS (one-sentence mentions TX among early voting states)
Front page Style sec large color pic of Bush twins in article about candidates' children.
P. 2 Sports sec - color pic of Laura Bush & Paralympians.
