Bridge Hero Snubs Bush
Tue Aug 07, 2007 at 08:41:25 AM PDT
Jeremy Hernandez, the 20-year-old who helped save dozens of children in last week's bridge collapse in Minneapolis, was offered a full scholarship by the Dunwoody College of Technology.
He has also been contacted by people across the country who have admired his bravery and wished to help him, as he was forced to drop out of his previous educational program because he could not afford the $15,000 tuition.
He was also contacted by President Bush's staff for a photo-op.
Here's what he said:
Thank You, Markos [Winger Update!]

Having been a member of the DKos community for a couple of years, I sometimes miss sight of the fact that Daily Kos was started by a single individual and that, now, this site is maintained exquisitely through the efforts of a group of awesome people.
Having no idea of the time and patience it takes to run a blog of this size, I would like to use this diary as a means of showing my true appreciation for Markos, as well as the many other members of this community who donate their efforts (both in time and passion).
I hope this can be a time to put aside any quarrels or differences in opinion, and to show gratitude for those who make this blog what it is.
[Updated] Senator Johnson's Condition Improves!
Tue Jan 09, 2007 at 10:39:09 AM PDT
MSNBC has just reported that Senator Tim Johnson's (D-SD) condition has improved from critical to fair. There was no other information that I saw on the broadcast.
Hopefully he recovers fully. Let's continue to keep Senator Johnson and his family in our thoughts.
Links and excerpts after the flip.
Dan Kenitz: You Are Wrong

I believe I spend too much energy getting worked up whenever I read a columnist whose arguments are both contradictory and incorrect. Today, I took some of that pent up energy to write a local columnist whose column today slammed me against the wall with its inconsistencies and illogic.
Hardball - Murtha's Opponent is Dense
Thu Aug 17, 2006 at 04:57:00 PM PDT
Chris Matthews took down
Diana Irey, John Murtha's challenger for Congress this November, on tonight's episode of
Hardball.
It was such a great conversation that, for the first time in a while, I didn't get extremely upset whenever the Republican opened his/her mouth. And that's solely due to the fact that Matthews did not take any of her bullshit (at least until the end, where he had to make face and thank her for being on).
Flip it, stick it, and bulift it.
Sportsmen For Bush? Not when the heat is on.

I can't begin to tell you the number of times I've driven behind a pristine Ford F-250 (extremely necessary for 20lbs of groceries they use it for in Milwaukee) with it's rear patched with conservative stickers reminiscent of a sugared 14 year old's school notebook when she found a whole batch of Hello Kitty stickers. Here's what you'll usually find:
1. You have the obligatory "W" (With those awesome streaks coming out the side! "Rush"ing to save the country, eh Bush?)
2. Maybe a "Mark Green for Governor" sticker. These are for the "2-cool" Republicans, the trendy hipsters with their Wrangler Jeans and Freedom Fries.
Maybe, just maybe, you'll find one of these: (flip it, kid)
Breaking: NOT GUILTY?!

Three Milwaukee Police Officers have been found not guilty for the charges of brutally gang-beating a single, unarmed man. Whatever credibility the police badge carried in Milwaukee before now has now been erased by this erroneous judgement. I pray there won't be riots. I pray there will be no assaults. I pray there will be no violence. But I also pray that this bullshit does not become accepted.

This is my first diary. And I wish I had more of my own rantings rather than simply sharing with you what passes for quality journalism (according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal). The author is Dale Reich. And Dale Reich is a generalizing fool. Flip if you wish to know why.
