Biggest Lies of 2005 with poll
Tue Dec 27, 2005 at 10:22:14 AM PDT
Tough one to call, isn't it? So many lies, so few days in a year.
Some of the lies were simple: "We do not torture." Others were more nuanced--more tortured: "We do not torture."
See what I mean? Some lies started off relatively simple and then grew legs, arms and hydra heads.
"We do not torture."
"We do not torture; that is our policy."
"We do not torture; that is our policy for every US soldier in the country."
"We do not torture; but torture by a few bad apples in the military has been alleged."
John Bolton - O, Thou Hypocrite!

I yesterday listened to an NPR interview with Ambassador Bolton regarding the UN Resolution pertaining to Syrian obstruction of the Mehlis Committee's investigation of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
I was struck by the unmitigated hypocrisy that a representative of the government of the United States could stand wagging his finger at another country, any country, about obstructing an investigation into complicity of that government's officials in a crime against its citizens.
What a stark contrast to what Harry Reid and Dick Durbin undertook to accomplish at nearly the same moment in our own Senate!
