Redstate's Most Hilarious Action Alert to Date
Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 07:04:30 AM PDT
In the latest hilarity falling out of the Moon Bouncer that is Redstate, we have a very concerned Action Alert about a talk given to some lawyers at Google. The talk is about net neutrality, and part of the talk was a video that was, from what I can tell, censored.
Now comes word that Larry Lessig and Google really could care less that so many of us revere Jesus. This time the Lord is not in a jar of urine, but singing "I will survive" in a diaper before being run over by a bus. If you are really curious, you can watch this work of blasphemy here.
Honestly, I don't have any idea what their goal is with this kind of action alert. They seem to be asking us to take action to prevent us from getting open access to information. It's also clear from the whopping 20 comments that Fearless Leader's piece received that they also don't know what he wants them to do- or why.
I'll show you some more.
Those pissants at Redstate
Mon Apr 07, 2008 at 12:03:24 PM PDT
Pissants.
That's what we used to call those little flying ant-like creatures. I guess it was in reference to their inability to defend themselves against our monstrous swats.
Well, those pissants at Redstate are mustering up all 50 of themselves for some emailing to newspapers.
They seem to think that Obama quoting John McCain accurately about being in Iraq for 100 years is somehow dishonest.
Below the fold is the text of the alert. I've kept the email addresses for their activism intact. That way, when their emails are received by the media members, they'll seem like pissants in response to the emails from us.
You have the power over the rec list- updatedx2!!

Hi.
I hear that we might possibly not know where Hillary was on November 25, 2007. It is entirely possible that she was responsible for any one- or all- of these crimes.
Well? I'm thinking that she could have gone over to Arturo Montes Leon's house and created a domestic disturbance there. Afterwards, she would have moved swiftly, with cat-like swiftness, to the 500 block of Stoney Court, where she would have viciously driven without a license- over to Barack Obama's white grandma's house. OMG!
More? Below the fold- 'kay?
Otto- forwards and backwards

Hi.
You may know me. You may not know me. Every once in a while, I will write a diary. One thing I do not write about is primary season. There isn't any Democrat who I wouldn't vote for over a Republican nominee- let's just put it that way.
Redstate begging for votes updated-
Fri Nov 02, 2007 at 09:49:33 AM PDT
The other day I went over to Redstate.org to see what was up with the high minded thinkers of the conservative movement. They aren't just about talk over there. No sir. They are about action. They are visionaries who know how to mobilize their readers into a strong and powerful action that cannot be beaten back.
I decided I wanted to see just what it was that made them such action figures. What was it that made them so smart?
The difference is that they have "Action Alerts!" What a novel concept! I've hardly seen any outfits with those- other than Moveon, DFA, every single congressperson who gets my email address, Newsmax, the AFA...
Rush's Support
Thu Oct 04, 2007 at 07:54:28 AM PDT
I'm going to be very clear that I find it reprehensible that anyone in congress is doing anything with regards to condemning or speaking out against any particular private organization's right to speak its opinion.
I'm no constitutional scholar, but it seems to me that the wording of the First Amendment is very clear on the issue of the press- the government of the US should not be doing anything to limit the freedom of the press.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
It has become a hallmark of elected Republican officials to interfere in whatever way possible with the reporting that the press does.
There is a website expressing support for Rush Limbaugh. The website is apparently partially the work of a Virginia Congressman- Eric Cantor.
Find out about the site below the fold.
"It's why we do what we do." Conservative Activism in Action
Mon Aug 06, 2007 at 03:50:32 PM PDT
The people infesting the streets and convention spaces of poor, unsuspecting Chicago was enough to make one conservative blogger say this about the sergeant issue at Yearlykos:
This(sic)a perfect example of the left-wing liberal thoughts on the military. Who needs an army anyway, because when these socialists get the power they desire, the world will all of a sudden fall in line and sing Kumbya (sic)together circling the globe in totally (sic) unity for the defense of the live earth. (huh?)
It's nobody famous, and I'm not linking.
The nightmarish, dystopian future he fears is indeed alarming. The rich vocabulary, and the vibrant imagery describing a world where people love each other... it just chills me to the marrow of my undernourished, vegetarian bones.
How can we save ourselves from ourselves. How can we stop this horrific train of vile love and respect?
If you decide to take your pasty, pale, long haired, freakish selves below the jump, you will see a world where one can feel warm and protected. You can feel comforted by the strong hands and muscular physique of a government that will completely obliterate any threat to America.
Epilepsy101- Justice Roberts- Prophet or Witch?
Wed Aug 01, 2007 at 12:26:00 PM PDT
My previous diary on epilepsy began with this paragraph.
I'm lucky, I have epilepsy. Really, it's only technically epilepsy. Well, okay it's actually diagnosed epilepsy, but I say technical because others live with a much more life changing form of epilepsy, and I don't want to put my problems in the same ballpark as theirs. Epilepsy itself has gotten a new name. It's still referred to as epilepsy, but now it's also getting fit into a category called "seizure disorders." "Seizure Disorder" is just a way of avoiding saying a word that might seem like a sensitive issue to some. Some people just call it "The E word."
I wrote that diary, because I want to be part of the demystifying of epilepsy. With the recent events in the life of Chief Justice Roberts, I thought it would be worthwhile to cover the topic of epilepsy again.
Let's get in the well of knowledge.

What's it all about? I'll bet that there are more than a few posters on Kos who are well acquainted with epilepsy. Find out more below.
Student walkouts!
Wed Nov 02, 2005 at 01:42:07 PM PDT
Students are walking out in at least 3 different cities. I don't know the background on this. But, I do know
More than 1,000 students, many of them from 40 Twin Cities area high schools, protested today against the war in Iraq and military recruiters on campus.

Update This is the first day of the World can't wait walkouts, so here's the link to that site. I assume they'll be updating.

The 2008 fundamentalist GOTV issue
Mon Aug 22, 2005 at 08:40:05 AM PDT
This diary is just to point out the increasing attention that Intelligent Design is getting.
It's my opion that Intelligent Design is intended to be the call to arms issue for the 2008 presidential campaign. It will be the gay marriage of the next presidential election. And it's just wrong.
I won't go over the entire history of Intelligent Design, and creationism, but I will point to the article published in yesterday's NYT. It was printed in today's Seattle Times. It is all about an organization here in Seattle who is at the forefront of the ID propaganda push. You may know them, they are The Discovery Institute.
Here's the article-
Politicized Scholars Put Evolution on the Defensive
I will suggest you read the article, but I want to point out one item
A closer look shows a multidimensional organization, financed by missionary and mainstream groups - the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation provides $1 million a year, including $50,000 of Mr. Chapman's $141,000 annual salary - and asserting itself on questions on issues as varied as local transportation and foreign affairs.

Still making them VNR's - CAFTA and Beef
Fri Jun 17, 2005 at 10:00:47 AM PDT
So, they're still making those VNR's. They are releasing them and putting tags on the end of the tape. But, of course, stations will be cutting the end from the tape. I mean, why should they waste all that time on identifying propaganda?

Yet another über-conservative, gay-hating, homophobic legislation proposing, Boy Scout leading, Republican politician caught red-handed.

Rich Lowry- still defending Delay
Wed Apr 20, 2005 at 01:23:08 PM PDT
http://www.nationalreview.com/lowry/lowry.asp
Rich Lowry, the editor over at The National Review, has got a strange way of looking at things. In his latest piece he takes on the terrible left wing power merchant, Joshua Micah Marshal. He doggedly defends Delay's former profession.
Apparently, Lowry is all about that working man.
I wish I could post the whole thing, but I won't... some snippets below.
My suggestion- recommended sections
Tue Apr 19, 2005 at 12:06:32 PM PDT
HOw many of you are interested in seeing political issues slowly creep back into the recommends? I am.
Recently, I've mostly seen a whole lot of "gotchas," and religious news and views.
When I say "gotchas," I'm referring to the unending list of stupid things that Delay, Coulter and so on say and do. They are idiots. Their idiocy needs to be highlighted.
I'm also all for discussing religion. Religion relates heavily to politics, so if we don't discuss it, we lose. 23% of this country is Catholic. We've got something like 150 million people who identify themselves as Christian. It would be foolish to not discuss religion.
If you think there is a point to this, go below the virtual fold.
A true story of red votes, jobs, family, and health
Mon Apr 18, 2005 at 10:22:48 AM PDT
The following play probably gets acted out hundreds of thousands of times every day across the country. The theaters are small. The audience is only family members- if an audience shows at all. The play can be performed as a one act, or it can have many acts with different scene changes and a whole orchestra to back it up. It doesn't change the outcome. It also doesn't change the mechanisms that led to the writing and performing of the play.
It would be better if it were fictional.
Pay for your ticket, get your hand stamped, or just wander into the free play in the park. In any case, you'll have to purchase tickets at the box office below the jump.
Urban Legends about Iraq. Funny and informative.

After reading
this diary by a Texan in Maryland I decided that I would write a diary chronicling some of the amazing disinformation being spread via that fun and exciting class of citizens: The Email Forwarder. You may know this person. I'm sure you have one who is related to you.
I'll rely on snopes
True, or not true, it doesn't matter. Check below the fold.
The Business Card
Mon Nov 15, 2004 at 02:53:10 PM PDT
This is an idea I'm coming up with. I want the Dems to create a business card which states core values. A cheat sheet, essentially. This is something which can be articulated easily, and is simple to understand. It is impossible to argue with these statements if you are in politics.
It's time for the Democrats to be able to have something to point to and say, "We are right. These things hold value for every American. If you don't vote for us, you are wrong."
- We support average Americans at work, home, and in school.
- We support small and large business.
- We support well paying jobs in America.
- We support your independence to make your own decisions.
- We support a strong and respected America.
