Hillary is 44 and Noquarter -- how representative?
Thu Jun 12, 2008 at 03:16:42 PM PDT
Hi folks,
I've been reading some of the posts on hillary is 44, noquarter, hillbuzz, etc.
There are some folks who hate them some Obama!
To be fair, I sympathize with Hillary supporters who feel they were mistreated. I agree that there was some latent sexism in the reporting about Hillary (just as there was latent racism in the reporting about Obama).
I'm not posting this diary to rehash the Obama/Clinton battle. One side won, the other isn't happy, that is the empirical reality.
However, I would like some insight on the representativeness of the aforementioned blogs. How representative are they? I know there was a recommended diary a few days ago that analyzed the author/post ratio at Hillaryis44. However, is there any way to measure the population who frequent these blogs who aren't republican trolls. I don't want to demean real Hillary supporters who don't want to give up (I think there is some virtue in that). However, how much of the user base for these blogs can be attributed to "operation chaos"?
Stop Sinclair to become "Start Change"
Thu Feb 24, 2005 at 04:28:50 PM PDT
Hello all,
Well, if you were one of the 152,407 who signed the Stop Sinclair position way back in the day.... you got an email today telling you that the org is changing its name and its mission. The organization formerly known as Stop Sinclair is now.... Start Change.
Here's their url: www.startchange.org
Here's their mission statement (sorry, I don't know how to block quote):
"StartChange is a non-profit 501c(4) that will be used exclusively to coordinate online and offline rapid response efforts to make sure that companies play it fair, our press is truly free, and our politicians work genuinely in the public interest."
My comments after the jump....
Constructive Criticism for ACT
Mon Nov 22, 2004 at 04:00:57 PM PDT
My ACT story starts like this:
I was initially motivated by Dean; and when he dropped out, I started looking around for something to invest my time and energy into. A friend emailed me the Will Farell video clip of the fake Bush campaign ad that ACT produced. I was not all that impressed by Kerry, and figured I would focus my energies on turnout instead. I thought 2004 would be all about GOTV.
Unfortunately, the bad guys were thinking the same thing too....
So here's my gripe: The day after the election I was depressed, but I still had energy. I had given money to ACT, I had given time to their phoner program in WV, NH, and FL. I wanted to work. I still want to work. And I don't think I'm alone.
So where has ACT gone?
