Beware Phoenix

Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 08:21:25 AM PDT

Just wanted to send alert to those in the Phoenix area.  One of the right wing broadcasters here is Dallas is moving to KTAR in January. (we inherited him from Tennessee)

Darrell Ankarlo is a right wing tool.  He is "in" with the repub in crowd often featuring Tony Snow and Glenn Beck as guests.  He starts spouting the the talking points when most of us are still in bed.  I could tell you what the repub response to any issue was going to before any pundits mouthed them on FOX.

He was the best alarm clock ever.  Some outragous thing he was saying would always pull me out of my REM state and force me to get up and turn his bullshit off.

1/3 of my races had no Dem challenger!

Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 09:50:59 AM PDT

Just voted in Dallas.  As usual, many races were just handed to the repubs. Out of 90 races on the ballot, 29 offered no Dem choice.

These are important races for judges, school officials and various commissioners on both the state and local level.  The kind that let Repubs keep their machine chugging along.

Its been this way as long as can remember.  I had been waiting to see if the 50 State Strategy had caught on.  If we would challange every race. Once again here we did not.

Is Charlie Crist gay?

Thu Sep 28, 2006 at 02:22:45 PM PDT

"Is Charlie Crist gay?", asks the Orlando Weekly.

Why does it matter? Isn't his personal business?  As a commentor at BlogActive notes:

Because you support a political platform which defines homosexuals such as Charlie Crist as belonging to a dangerous 'lifestyle' and a threat to children. And you support a Party which is currently trying to add anti-gay discrimination into the Constitution of the United States of America. Hello.

Terry McAwful to Run Hillary Campaign?

Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 04:59:46 PM PDT

Chris Matthews was spreading a rumor tonight on Hardball that Hillary was going to announce later this week and Terry McAwful was going to run the campaign.

It seems like an odd choice for her.

If he is running the campaign, we have already lost the election. I thought she was supposed to be smart.

A brief history of Israel

Sun Jul 16, 2006 at 01:55:55 PM PDT

This was originally meant as a response to a another diary. It ended up being too long and would have really messed up the formatting and screwed that diary up. I decided to post it on its own because I believe it contains information that people should be aware of. This is to give some perspective on one of the players in the current conflict -- Israel. This is just a smattering of highlights of news stories that don't seem to get much play here in the US. Its just 6 months in the life of Israel. I think it is important to remember that after Israel killed a family on a beach in Gaza their first reaction was to deny it. Then they tried to pin it on Hamas. After the shrapnel evidence revealed that they were indeed behind it, they reluctantly admitted guilt. I believe that fits the pattern of how they operate and speaks to their character. The current Gaza situtation was not started by a soldier being captured. They are not a country that, in my opinion, represents our values but rather one we generally oppose.

3 more reasons I think Biden is an idiot

Mon May 01, 2006 at 01:47:53 AM PDT

Biden has a new proposal out.

The senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee proposed Monday that Iraq be divided into three separate regions -- Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni -- with a central government in Baghdad.

Who the hell is Mike Gravel?

Thu Apr 13, 2006 at 02:06:37 PM PDT

I have never heard of the guy but he is now running president.  Anyone know the 411 on him?

A release issued by the Alaskan former lawmaker claims he intends to announce his bid for the Democratic nomination at a press conference on April 17.

Without knowing anything about him, at this point in time I favor him out of all the candidates.

Hillary Heckled

Sun Apr 09, 2006 at 03:26:12 PM PDT

Haven't seen this discussed.  Maybe I missed it.

Clinton was interrupted at Brown by some people protesting her pro-war vote.

Clinton was about eight minutes into her 50-minute speech, "Women Leaders," when an unidentified man stood and shouted "Is it leadership to support the war?"

He was quickly joined by two other hecklers as he stood on his seat and continued to criticize Clinton for her vote to authorize the US invasion of Iraq and her subsequent votes to fund the war.

Before her talk at the Ivy League school, about 70 protesters rallied outside the auditorium and said they targeted Clinton because her votes on the war mirror the Bush administration's policies, despite her being considered the front-runner among Democratic presidential hopefuls in 2008.

I am really upset that she DID NOT address these people but they were ushered out like they were at some Bush function. Is this Dem leadership?

18 Democrats vote for hate and discrimination in Kansas

Wed Feb 02, 2005 at 04:04:04 PM PDT

A measure was passed today in Kansas to allow further discrimination against gays. Their marriage discrimination amendment will be put on the ballot for voters in April. The measure needed a two-thirds majority, or 83 votes, from the 124 House members present. The vote was 86-37. Of the 42 Democrats, 18 voted "yes" and 24 voted "no." It would have taken just four Democrats to kill the measure. When will the Democratic Party take a stand on these issues?
