How Were You Non-Compliant on Friday??

Sat Dec 04, 2004 at 04:56:15 AM PDT

The wonderful diary by rcvanoz is now off the front page - sorry I don't know how to inbed a link here, maybe someone can help me? - but I want to continue their great idea. Let's make sure we all continue to be "non-compliant" to the Conservative Agenda. Post your non-compliant act for Friday here - let's share our ideas and not go quietly in that dark night!

My NC behavior - I starting buying my gas from Shell Oil exclusively. And over the weekend I'm writing them a letter congratulating them on their support of the Democratic Party.

Let's hear from you!

How to Flip a Conservative, or "Change is Hard"

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 03:59:05 PM PDT

Hi folks. At this point, I am through most of my anger and ready to think about how to be more successful next time. I work as a social worker and psychotherapist and I have a mostly cognitive-behavioral approach. Basically, I try to help people make changes in their thinking and behaviors so they can meet their goals in life. One C-B approach I use is outlined in Miller & Rollnick's Motivational Interviewing: Preparing Poeple to Change Addictive Behavior. While it has an addictions frame it is used by all sorts of therapists who work with people reluctant or ambivalent about change. More below the fold.

It's Tough to be a Grown-Up

Hi all, first diary entry for me... please be gentle ;)
It occurs to me that one difference between Bush-type "conservatives" - who aren't conservative at all - and Kerry supporters is Kerry folks' ability to understand that you don't have to act on your feelings. It seems like the Bush supporters are all about feeling good in the moment. Scoring points. Venting.
