I would like to start a serious discussion on this topic. I have an angle on this that gives the idea some merit. Lay a side the fact that the repugs are the ones proposing it.
A comment was made to me about the blue states suffering the tax burden, well the flat tax might be the answer. In my native Michigan paying taxes is part of daily life and looked upon as your civc duty. I never once had a cash job there that was my source of income, only small side projects. When I moved to South Carolina I could not find a job that took taxes out. The norm in constuction and farming here is to pay cash and only the boss pays taxes as if he actualy did all the work which puts even small time employers above the $200,000 mark. That equals millions of workers paying only thier states flat sales tax because it is almost impssible to get around. A federal flat sales tax would in essence make every one in the nation pay thier civc duty.
This is not an article reporting any news, if that is what you are seeking, scroll past. That being said, I am posting this at a slow time, so it will not bump what others feel is relevant. What you will find here are thoughts on the nature of being human. Some claim we live in the greatest of times others claim them to be the darkest, what no one can dispute is that these are our times and we still wrestle with the same issues that man has in all of time.
Hi, I don't have a diary so can't post on daily kos but am reading closely. Here are some major national (left-leaning and/or progressive and/or anti-bush) foreign media editor and journalist email addresses that i farmed off google. Please post on your diary and other threads as you see fit. Encourage others to do the same too, please!!! I have been sending urgent pleas along with links to independent media in the U.S. so hopefully they can break the story before the US corporate media has a chance to spin it in a way that the rest of the world will quickly take as the final word. WE HAVE TO GET TO THEM FIRST --- if the foreign media report it first, then the US corporate media can NOT ignore it. Their spin-machine planning and strategizing will be cut short.

No one has been elected and no one will be elected, until we the People of the United States of America, are provided universal access to the same ballot format, until each eligible adult has had the opportunity to register and vote, until each ballot has been recorded and every ballot stored by the Library of Congress.
This is our demand. We pledge to each other that until these measures are adopted we, the Citizens of the United States, do not recognize any form of National Election as valid.

I am collecting information for a diary entry on the war on drugs. 1 link so far www.drug policy alliance.... I would greatly apreciate any input. I will make the greatest effort to keep the facts as strait as possible. In my mind this is one of the most serious issues facing our nation and it has dropped off the radar since 9/11 even though the death tols are way higher than in the war on terror, and it is being fought right here at home. Some possible topics are: marijuana reform, the crack and meth explosion, prison or treatment, and our role in the troubles in South America. The smallest help is greatly appriciated
I have felt a lot of emotions in the last week over this election and the things going on in my country that seem to be dividing it down the middle once again. But where do I fit in; I am not a republican for shure. I don't believe in getting a tax break my kids have to pay back, and while I support Bush in his war on terror I am against the war in Iraq.
