Republican Senators with Democratic Governors
Fri Dec 15, 2006 at 01:38:46 PM PDT
Josh Marshall over at Talking Points Memo points out a story from US News & World Reports of the Democratic senators (or those who say they will caucus with the Dems) in the incoming Congress who will have a Republican governor as of January. In addition to the names and states represented by the 19, the story also includes the ages of each--very helpful for the ghouls of the world attempting to predict how quickly any of them might drop dead and restore the Senate to a Republican majority. I'm sure US News has part II of this piece on Republican Senators with Democratic Governors but, it seems to be slow in appearing. So, I did a little research to help them out.
POLL: How Many Cancelled Your Time Subscription
Thu Apr 21, 2005 at 12:46:07 PM PDT
It seems like a lot of us have finally gotten the monkey known as a subscription to Time magazine off our back. I've been saying for several months I was going to do it but I never did. After two straight weeks of Ann Coulter love (1st as one of the 100 most influential people and then as cover girl), I'd had enough and cancelled this past Monday. Here's my letter to the editor about why.
In the past six months you've named George Bush man of the year, declared Powerline blog of the year, named Ann Coulter as one of the 100 most influential people and had cover stories on the god gene, secrets of the nativity, evangelicals, Mary, Mother of God, obscenity on television, John Paul II, and Ann Coulter. I don't know who your target demographic is, but it is certainly not me. Please cancel my subscription immediately.
How many of you cancelled this week? Take the poll below
Nightline on Election Fraud
Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 10:05:45 PM PDT
I guess I should have realized that tonight's Nightline coverage of election fraud in the 2004 election would be biased but I was surprised at how poorly they covered the story. It's late and I need to go to bed, but I was so mad I had to get this off my chest.
Juan Cole LIVE: "Democracy in American Iraq"
Mon Jan 17, 2005 at 04:27:05 PM PDT
I just got back from hearing Juan Cole, of
Informed Comment fame, speak at an MLK day event at the University of Michigan. The title of his talk was "How Democratic is American Iraq?" During the 1 ½ hours he spoke, he commented on the "complete fantasy" of the Bush administration's justification for war, the Project for the New American Century, the ethics of Michael Crichton, the Iraqi elections ("a PR stunt"), and the "cult" of Lyndon LaRouche, among other things. I took pages of notes because I thought some of you might be interested. I probably know more than the average American about Iraq but, that ain't a heck of a lot so if you see errors, please let me know. I was writing as fast as I could but I may have missed something.
Use Their Own Tactics & Values Against Them--A New Contract for America
Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 07:14:03 AM PDT
We all know that Republicans espouse values that Democrats actually practice. For example, opposing a pre-emptive war against an enemy who poses no threat to our country is the real pro-life stance, not terrorizing young women struggling with the incredibly difficult and personal decision to have an abortion. So, how do we take back the moral leadership in America, both in language and action?
