HRC - More Race Baiting
Wed May 07, 2008 at 11:16:10 AM PDT
We have seen many versions of HRC. Sometimes several in 24 hour period. We've been treated to "Stern Hillary," "Scornful Hillary," "Tuzla Warrior Hillary," "Gracious and Conciliatory Hillary," "Pander Bear Hillary," "Undead Hillary," and "Bluecollar Hillary." Now, apparently, we are being treated to "Bull Conners Hillary."
We all knew it was coming. The tentacles of race baiting snaked out of Bill's mouth, Rendell's mouth and Ferraro's mouth. Now, however, I sickens me to report that it is about the only theme left to HRC's campaign. Let's call it like it is. Her last remaining stand is racism. Pure and simple. "No you can't."

All Is Illuminated
Tue May 06, 2008 at 07:47:40 PM PDT
Hokey dokey...I saw the future and it's...cough...Lisa Caputo (Senior Analyst for HRC) on...ugh...MSNBC.
It's clear that they are jockeying for the VP. Jockeying hard. Caputo was basically saying, as I hear it, that if Obama wants HRC to go away, he has to "unify the party."

Sky Falling? Read This!!!
Fri May 02, 2008 at 08:02:22 AM PDT
Feeling a sickening feeling in your gut? Irresistable urge to wring hands? Feeling pieces of the sky on your head? You DON'T need to go there. I have the solution for you!!! Read on! Oh...And hey, those with the desire (paid for or otherwise) to cause confusion and disillusion for those in another camp? Watch out, y'all.
It's not often that I diary an article from another blog rather than reporting news or thoughts from my interior. Given that this is the Friday before yet another manic primary weekend however and given the tsunami of cold sweat that has been deluging from the pores of handwringers (and the concern trolls who would heave buckets of cold water and have us believe it was sweat)...I thought that I should refer people to this article at The Field entitled...Boot Camp for Chicken Littles.

Amazing Opportunity - 24 Hours to Convince a Superdelegate At The Field
Sat Apr 12, 2008 at 09:30:07 AM PDT
I'll make this short. I would make this a comment, however, due to the extraordinary opportunity being offered by The Field, I'm giving this diary status.
Act now!!! For the next 24 hours, we can write to The Field and discuss, our support for our candidate with Deb Kozikowski, an undeclared superdelegate from Massachusetts. This particular blog has been up for several days. Al Giordano, blogger extraordinaire and the guiding light of The Field, sez that this amazing "offer" will be over in 24 hours. (I note that Super Deb is the proprietor of Rural Votes. the home of The Field, as well).
Update: Two Superdelegates for Obama (and a "Loss")
Mon Apr 07, 2008 at 03:50:05 PM PDT
Unfortunately, this is going to be very brief. Sorry. But I thought this item "news" and a step beyond a comment.
Ahem...at any rate. It looks like Obama "lost" Margaret Campbell, the Montana superdelegate. Before your entrails clutch, however, it appears that the endorsement had to be "retracted" due to party rules.
At the same time, however, the same article says that Obama picked up another Montana delegate.

DNC Will Seat MI and FLA Delegates on Credentials Committee
Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 07:03:10 AM PDT
Short diary. I haven't seen it diaried yet but I think it can be very important.
Apparently, in a surprise move, the DNC has stated that they are willing to seat MI and FLA delegates on procedural committess. Of course, a committee like the Credentials Committee can end up being quite substantive, particularly with the way things may be shaping up.
According to Politico, this has taken both campaigns by surprise.

BRAKING: Murdoch In Discussions to Buy Kos: Now with Poll!!!
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 06:43:11 AM PDT
Changes. Changes. Changes. We all know that Daily Kos produces enough income to support several groups of individuals including Kos, extended family, front page diarists and the diarists that make the rec list day after day after day. Apparently, Rupert Murdoch knows this as well because the Walll Street Journal reports that he's entered into negotiations to buy Kos.
Gulp. Apparently, The Rupe says that it would be his intentions not to change the editorial policy all that much. We may not have much choice but to believe him.

UPDATE X3: Dirty Tricks At Texas Caucus in San Antonio?
Sat Mar 29, 2008 at 10:09:42 AM PDT
I'm posting this short diary so that folks can know some what may be going on in Texas. I'm not trying be an alarmist or to be a handwringer. I don't know what if anything can be done about these types of situations but I did think that as many people should know about this as possible.
Here goes:
This is what I read at The Field
There are apparently HRC dirty tricks happening in San Antonio districts.

4th UPDATE: She Is SO Screwed: Tuzla NAFTA Perfect Storm Forming
Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 07:45:43 PM PDT
I haven't seen these stories discussed yet. But I think they are major. This will be a short diary. I posted it in the Open Diary but...this is big.
OK. The CBS story tonight is HUGE. It really rips Hillary apart on the Bosnia issues and just keeps nailing her. It's brutal. They really take her on. At this point, it's a beautiful dream come true. BUT the best part is at the end.

CBS/NY Times Poll - Obama Still On Top Nationally. Slight Update
Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 07:50:35 PM PDT
I normally wouldn't post something like this. But I've been afraid for the health of some Kos participants who seem to be close to hyperventilation regarding some of the recent polls. So consider this an act of compassion.
CBS Poll:: Obama Still on Top Nationally
CBS indicates that Obama has taken a hit but he still leads HRC and McBush.
Unilateral Truce...Hello Cruel World
Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 07:59:28 PM PDT
Just a report from the interior.
Yep. The crisis is past.
But first, a little story. I was once involved in a very bitter dispute with a person with whom there had been a long standing love thing. We were way past being together but suffice it to say, as sometimes happens, we had developed an allergy to each other. We had to keep dealing with each other...but each time another schism occurred, the crevasse got deeper and deeper. It was beginning to eat me up inside but then I realized the way out. It was simple. I declared a unilateral truce. I basically said, no matter where you want to take this, I will not fight no' mo'.

Calling Out Racism - UPDATED: With Audio/Visual
Tue Mar 11, 2008 at 07:03:06 PM PDT
This is a call out diary. Perhaps it's against the FAQ but I proceed undaunted.
Silence on racism is complicity. To remain silent in the face of blatant racism, sexism, anti semitism, etc. is to be complicit.
For that reason, I'm calling out the Hillary supporters in Kos and other Hillary supporters to denounce Geraldine Ferraro's blatant and explicit racism. And I am calling out the progressives who support Hillary Clinton to contact their candidate and express your outrage for stooping into the pigs wallow of race baiting.

NY Times: Bill Clinton Linked To Brazil Ethanol Probe
Mon Mar 10, 2008 at 07:38:39 PM PDT
I just saw this posted in the Times.
I haven't seen it discussed before but the article suggests that Clinton has invested in a company that maintained cruel and intolerable conditions for its workers.
I don't know whether this has legs but it looks remarkably skeevy and reflects poorly upon Clinton. Seems like it "vetting time." In my simple mind, I think this makes the Clintons' tax returns even more of an issue. Ya know...for proper vetting.

Clinton Campaign At War...With Self
Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 06:45:36 AM PDT
OK...another short diary. I haven't seen this posted here but I think this has value...if only schadenfreude. Apparently, Hillary's "victory" has not staunched the flow of blood in her own camp.
Here's the WaPo story that is headlined on HuffPo this morning.
WaPo...Hillary's Staff At War With Itself
It seems as if there are VERY serious fault lines that appear to be getting worse even in victory.

HuffPo's Edsall: Mark Penn - Hillary's Campaign Tumor
Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 02:09:57 PM PDT
Wow. Thomas Edsall really scorches Penn in a piece on HuffingtonPost. Way beyond most anything I've ever seen on HuffPo.
For instance, the headline for the article is Mark Penn: Hillary's Campaign Tumor. Whew. The gloves are off on that one. The article however, is quite fascinating and highly recommended. It lays out ALL of Penn's massive lobbying/PR influence. In my mind, it irreversibly calls into question HRC's motivation and judgement in using this this guy. He's at the beck and call (for a hefty price of course) for all, whether Dem or Republican. The requisite being that you have wealth and power.

2nd Update: Houston Superdelegate Switches from Clinton To Obama
Thu Feb 28, 2008 at 07:01:42 AM PDT
Yet another superdelegate has migrated from Clinton to Obama. Rep. Senfronia Thompson has declared her intention to vote for Obama.
This is a fairly short diary but I think that the trend is quite clear as per the article linked below, there are now more than 24 superdelegates who have jumped on the Obama wagon during the recent weeks.

NY Times: Clinton Approaching Appomattox?
Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 07:26:53 PM PDT
All the cliches and platitudes apply. It's not over 'til it's over. The fat lady has to sing. Remember the 1986 World Series and the 2004 Championship Series. Remember the Alamo. On and on...
As the trendlines, money and demographics have all been breaking for Obama, I have been wondering what rabbit will be pulled out of the hat. With Hillary Clinton going spectacularly negative today, I have been questioning whether this was the launch of a new offense. It has seemed like the slog to nomination will be endless. Or maybe not.
OK...maybe it ain't over till it's over, but the Grey Lady is singing and it's a song many of us are hearing. The NY Times article I just read, reprinted on MSNBC.com, seems to signal that we are approaching the Appomattox Courthouse after some very sharp battles. I don't mean to mislead with the title...They are not saying that she's quitting. But the piece seems VERY elegaic.
