Wow. Big Dog baffles.

Thu Jul 20, 2006 at 08:02:36 AM PDT

This blub, via Raw Story, says Bill Clinton will campaign for Joe L. in CT.

Color me completely baffled.  Why would Bill help they guy who stuck a dagger in his back on Lewinsky-gate?  Maybe Bill is trying to placate Joe and the DLC crowd on behalf of Hillary, who recently said she would support the winner of the primary.  I am an occasional fan of Clinton, but then he does something like this.  Theories?

Election night webcasts -- perhaps a dumb question

Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 10:59:36 AM PDT

We live out in the sticks (northeastern VT), and we don't have any TV.  But we do have DSL, and we will have election coverage on the radio on NPR/VPR, so we will be able to follow election night, to a degree.

But we would really love to find a live webcast of election coverage.  Maybe such a thing doesn't exist.  CSPAN doesn't specify what their coverage will be, and the news stations I checked (PBS, ABC, MSNBC) are mum on whether they will have simulataneous web coverage of their TV broadcasts.

Any one else know of any web coverage?  If you aren't watching on TV, how will you be following the action on election night?

I am embarrassed for W

Tue Mar 30, 2004 at 03:11:07 PM PDT

Josh Marshall hints at the thing that bugged me about today's 9-11 Commission testimony news -- why is the WH offering that W and Cheney do a joint, private appearence?  The only explanation I can think of is embarrassing for W -- that Rove et al. don't think W can be trusted to respond to Commission questions by himself.  Instead, he needs Cheney along to make sure he doesn't screw things up too bad.  Why not a joint public appearence?

Anyone have a more benign explanation?  I mean, if that is the case, how sad is it that our President is such an incompetent ninny that his own supporters can't trust him to go testify before a body where everything isn't scripted out?

Speechless - W as peace maker

Mon Feb 02, 2004 at 11:54:34 AM PDT

I know under the new rules a person is really really supposed to have something to say, but this blurb indicating that W has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize just leaves me speechless.  I mean, talk about up-is-down-ism!

I don't think W will get it, but what I would like to know is whether the Nobel committee ever releases the final vote tally?  I think it would be great to see where W finishes in the final voting.

Which leads to an actually serious question.  If not W, then who gets it this year?

Does Iowa raise the bar for Clark?

Tue Jan 20, 2004 at 10:59:14 PM PDT

A little lost in all of the post-Iowa scramble seems to be how much these results hurt Clark.  Which candidate can Clark now afford to finish behind in NH?

Not a second place finish to Dean.  Headlines will read, "Dean is back".

Not a second place finish to Kerry.  Headlines will read, "Kerry has lock on nomination".

Not second to Edwards.  Headlines will read, "Dem southern star shines."

Seriously, if Clark finishes anything but first, how much further can he go?  Shooting for second isn't going to cut it anymore for the general.  And does a third place finish take him out?

Bush helps Dems gain in Nevada

Of course, the RNC will probably help him by re-dubbing the entire speech.
