Can Bloggers Unionize?
Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 09:56:56 PM PDT
This is actually an old diary that I am reviving, as it seems relevant. Original is here: http://www.dailykos.com/...
Say that on a particular blog, a large majority of the bloggers disagree with the founder of the site and want him/her to change his position, at least the one he/she states publicly. Would unionization of the bloggers be an effective way to bring pressure on the founder and get him/her to change his/her tune?

Iraq Veterans against the War: Winter Soldier
Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 11:33:42 AM PDT
The Winter Soldiers must be cold indeed.
They are alone and ignored. They do not exist in the consciousness of Americans, and therefore they do not really exist at all.
Today through Sunday, veterans from the Iraq War will be testifying about what is really going on in Iraq.
But Americans aren't looking. Americans don't even care.
The American public hardly even know there is a war going on at all.
The Most Revolutionary Thing You Can Do
Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 09:13:53 AM PDT
Does it seem to you that the United States has become an evil empire that needs to be kneecapped and brought back into line? Does it seem to you that elections are just going to perpetuate the murdering, raping, and pillaging being carried out by this empire? Are you not quite ready to take up arms to overthrow the U.S. government, but you would still like to cripple it so that it can no longer cause harm to others?

Wexler's Petition: What Needs to Be Done
Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 06:14:53 PM PDT
What I have to say is going to require an open mind, so take some time to consider what I am saying. I am proposing stepping outside of our boundaries. I fear my words may fall upon deaf ears because of the strength of custom, but what I have to say is very important, so please try to step out of your habits and move outside of your accustomed circles. This is what is needed. We have to leave the corral and go out among the masses. We HAVE to. When we talk here at DailyKos, we only talk among ourselves. We have to go outside ourselves. We HAVE to! I have gone out. I have seen. Wexler's petition is NOT on the radar of many other political blogs. The media is not covering this, and there are MANY who do not know. Talking among ourselves will not produce the kinds of numbers we need. It may be uncomfortable to step outside of what we are used to, but this is the SACRIFICE we must make. It is WORK. It is not a hobby. It is DUTY. Leave your ruts and go out.
Now jump.
Pushing Wexler's Petition Further
Tue Dec 18, 2007 at 11:38:24 AM PDT
By now everyone on these boards knows about Representative Robert Wexler's petition to begin impeachment hearings for Dick Cheney.

But there are still many who do not know, and it is up to us to tell them. Let's make it a project to blanket the Internet with links to Wexler's petition.
Clinton and Obama Are Oathbreakers
Thu Dec 13, 2007 at 08:24:55 AM PDT
Clinton and Obama look the other way on Bush's crimes. They are not preserving, protecting, or defending the Constitution. They are in violation of their oaths of office. This disqualifies them to run for president.
War with Iran? Really? Really!?
Fri Nov 02, 2007 at 12:16:05 PM PDT
I keep hearing people talking about an impending war with Iran, and I wonder if this is just rhetoric, or do people really think Bush is about to start another war? To me it seems that people are not really acting like they think another war is about to start. I would expect much more radical action if people really thought another war was in the offing. So I'm curious. Do people really think Bush is about to push us over the brink into war with Iran?
Please answer the poll below.

Bring Your Outrage Out On October 27
Sat Oct 20, 2007 at 01:15:01 PM PDT
Yeah, I agree. Fuck this shit! Fuck this whole ball of shit called America right now. You can count on your fingers the outrages that have taken place in America over the last 6 years, and when you're done with fingers, you haven't even made a dent in the outrages. And what's being done about it? You voted on November 7 for what? What did you get for it? You know what you got. You got a bag of shit.
So now what? One answer: wait. Wait until the 2008 elections. Wait until then to even start thinking about ending the war in Iraq. Wait until then in the hopes that the president will not start another war with Iran in the meantime. Wait until then while the Congress you elected pisses in your face and tells you it's raining. Wait until then, and then watch the criminals in the White House go free to spend the billions of dollars they stole from us while they were in office. Just shut up and wait.
Or there is another answer, and that answer is, Fuck This Shit! Throw a fit. Get irrational. Get ungovernable. Let's rock this boat until the people in power are afraid we'll tip it over. That's what October 27 is about. It is a chance to show the powers in America that there is something happending here that they do not understand and that they cannot control.
Iraq Moratorium Tomorrow: Count the Armbands
Thu Sep 20, 2007 at 04:42:48 PM PDT
As many of you know, tomorrow, Friday, September 21, is Iraq Moratorium Day.
It is an opportunity to conduct an empirical study on your fellow Americans. The primary action for Iraq Moratorium Day (IMD) is to wear black armbands to express opposition to the war. So you can count the black armbands you see to get some idea of how many people oppose the Iraq War.
Prepare for Failure
Thu Sep 06, 2007 at 09:23:10 PM PDT
There are several antiwar events coming up:
September 15: ANSWER protest in DC.
September 21: Iraq Moratorium all over the country.
October 27: UFPJ protest all over the country.
There are probably others. And I predict they will all be laughingstock failures. Here's why:

Why Senators Are Trying to Quiet Us Down
Tue Jul 17, 2007 at 06:36:04 AM PDT
Why Senators Are Trying to Quiet Us Down: And What to Do about It
In at least one instance, a respected senator posted a diary on Daily Kos explaining why he will not abide by his oath of office and call for the impeachment of President George W. Bush.
This might at first be seen as a negative sign by those who rightly want to see George W. Bush held accountable with consequences for lying America into the Iraq war and for committing other subsidiary crimes. However, the senator's diary, if it's meaning is considered, is actually a positive sign and should give us all heart.
The Fourth of July Means Impeachment!
Fri Jun 29, 2007 at 09:24:04 PM PDT
The Fourth of July is a federal holiday celebrating the independence of our nation from Britain. Now the damned fascists have taken over. We need to renew Independence Day, and we need to do it this Fourth of July. Sitting behind our computers typing isn't enough. We have to go out into the real world and cause some motherfucking trouble.
The Founding Fathers were troublemakers. We need to honor them this Fourth of July by causing a ruckus. America is too quiet. Let's stir it up. Let's make some noise. Let's cause some trouble for the fascists.
The Sound of America: We Want Impeachment
