I am reporting this press release about an alleged academic freedom case in Red Oak, Iowa. I have not been able to find any corroboration of the case. However, I have a reasonable trust for Common Dreams and the details given of the case are credible to me given my own experiences and those of others I am aware of. If the facts of this case are true, it is disturbing. Also disturbing is the lack of public interest in such cases.

You who are having a conniption over the FISA bill are allowing the right-wing to distract you from more meaningful issues, not the least of which is getting Barack Obama elected and preventing McCain's Bush Term III.

If you've ever thought how much the rabid Hillary supporters who attack Obama sound like Republicans, well, maybe some of them are. There is something fishy about one of the leading "pro-Hillary" sites, Hillaryis44.com.

By the way - it is a rhetorical question. Subtlety is lost on some people.

One of the most bizarre and deranged editorials in a long time was just written by Geraldine Ferraro.

In an editorial written by Geraldine Ferraro and published in the Boston Globe, the former Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate continued and extended her spate of bizarre comments on race and gender.

I think these words very appropriate at this time.

Come to side of the Truth my friends.

Enough of this soap opera, it's time to focus on McCain.

This is a big deal.

This is not about being anti-Hillary or pro-Obama. This is about what principles we stand for in our party.

Cynicism and prejudice won tonight.

I have seen some pretty slanted polls on this question. Here is a more honest one.

The objective of the DePaul Academic Freedom Conference is to provide a board forum for scholars to present findings, research and exchange ideas about recent trends in academic freedom. The Academic Freedom Committee, a student organization at DePaul University that seeks to preserve academic freedom on campus. Recently, there have been a number of academic freedom infringements at DePaul.

Sara Roy, Senior Research Scholar, Center for Middle East Studies, Harvard University will be the keynote speaker. I have been invited to present a paper. My topic is "Linking Religion and Academic Freedom."

Been months since I last posted an update here on the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) attempt to silence Internet Radio. There have been few developments, but here is an update finally.

The Minneapolis (my home town) bridge collapse may at least force us to come to grips with a pressing reality. Though others will no doubt say similar things, it can't hurt to add my voice.
