Breaking: Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to endorse Obama!

Sun Jan 27, 2008 at 01:01:41 PM PDT

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/...

Marc Ambinder is the first I saw to report it:

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) will deliver the Democratic response to the State of the Union on Monday.

And then Tuesday, she'll return to Kansas to endorse Barack Obama, numerous Democratic sources said.

The sources said that Sebelius decided some time ago that Obama was her candidate but decided to wait until after the State of the Union.

An Obama spokesperson declined to comment.

"Right now, the Governor's focus is on delivering her response to the President's State of the Union message Monday night," said Nicole Corcoran, communications director to Sebelius. "The Governor will have more to say about the presidential campaign after Monday."

Admittedly this has been expected, and I and many others have been speculating about a Sebelius endorsement for Obama for quite a long time. The real significance is that many, including myself believe that she would make a strong running mate for an Obama candidacy, given her red-state appeal and governing experience.

I haven't done this for a few weeks, but I thought I'd start a diary for you, the heroes, to take some time this evening to share with us your favorite videos from around the 'net.

The videos you share can be of any reasonable variety, political or not. Just make sure to give us a warning if there is a content-appropriateness issue.

Obama Event in Milwaukee...w/pics

Tue Apr 17, 2007 at 06:40:59 AM PDT

cross-posted at MyDD

Barack Obama held a somewhat unique if a bit abbreviated fundraising event in Milwaukee, and I for once can say that I got to attend. The asking price was $25 per ticket for entry into the historic Milwaukee Theater, capacity 4100, and the event easily sold out.

Here is a link to an article about the event, and I'll post more thoughts and a flickr link to some pics below.

Some photos of the event. Conditions on the inside weren't really great for getting good photos, but there are some outdoor pics of one of the lines to get into the theater.

Russian Intelligence Sees American Military Buildup

Wed Mar 28, 2007 at 07:15:20 AM PDT

**crossposted at MyDD**

http://en.rian.ru/...

An article from Novosti, the Russian News and Information Agency details information from Russian Intelligence warns of American military buildup in preparation for a conflict with Iran.

The capture of British military personnel, supposedly from Iraqi waters, is bound to set off a massive crisis in the region beyond what we are seeing with the insurgency in Iraq.

The full article is below the fold.(I don't know if its okay to post it or not, but its Russian so I figure its good to go).

Your Favorite Video Clip: Friday Night Bloggers Edition

Okay, so maybe you should probably have done something before if you are going to refer to a diary as though it is recurring. Tonight, my wife is going to work at the VA Hospital here in Madison and I find myself spending yet another Friday night here alone, watching the goings on here at dailykos with the rest of you fine people.

Hillary: Why or Why Not?

Mon Mar 05, 2007 at 12:07:32 PM PDT

Something just doesn't sit right with me. For over six years, I've known that Hillary Clinton was going to run for President. She never said so publicly until she announced, but somehow I and almost everyone else that follows politics knew this.

She's Bill Clinton's wife. She has been a successful lawyer in Arkansas, a very involved First Lady who was involved in policy issues, and she's been, by all accounts, a successful and effective Senator for the State of New York. We all know these things.

And now, she's running for President.

My Response to today's right-wing U of Kentucky editorial

I'd have tried to run it by you guys first, but I wanted my response to be 'organic'. I'm a Navy veteran, Western Dem from rural Oregon, trying to see if I can bring some of that mojo to the mid-South.

All below the fold.

Matt Brown drops out of RI-Sen race; endorses Whitehouse

Wed Apr 26, 2006 at 01:22:20 PM PDT

http://www.abc6.com/...

It's official, Matt Brown is out of the Rhode Island senate race, and he has immediately endorsed Sheldon Whitehouse. While still an uphill battle, defeating Lincoln Chafee just might become a bit easier now that Rhode Island voters can be spared a bruising primary battle. Whitehouse, the former attorney general, is a strong candidate who has been competitive with Chafee in recent polling.

Now, lets hope our party's single-interest groups can avoid destroying each other and work together to get a Democrat elected in the bluest of blue states. This may be a good time to visit the website, and get to know the guy who is the best remaining shot at taking back a righfully democratic seat. Please recommend so that we can get the word out. Clinton using helos and spy-photos on Kathleen McFarland?

Sat Mar 25, 2006 at 08:30:10 AM PDT

Not that I read Drudge that often, but I saw this Drudge Flash and thought I should bring it to people's attention. The article is now here on the NY Post's web site so check it out for yourselves:

http://www.nypost.com/...

It seems that Kathleen McFarland really believes that Hillary so scared of the challenge she presents to Hillary's Senate campaign that she is using spy photos and helicopters to spy on her. She apparently made the claim to a gathering of Suffolk County Republicans.
A campaign spokesman said it was a joke and that those in attendance laughed, but witnesses, including McFarland's Republican primary opponent John Spencer say this isn't so.

I thought that the Republicans in NY were having a hard time finding an even credible challenger to Hillary, but this is just awesome! Any time one of these people shows just how nutty they really are its a great day to be a Democrat.

Sen. Arlen Specter says TO treated unfairly

Tue Nov 29, 2005 at 07:11:24 AM PDT

Sen. Specter Defends Terrell Owens

In one short news story, Senator Specter shows that he is far more concerned about the plight of spoiled, selfish loudmouth multimillionaires like Terrell Owens than he is about the 45 million people without healthcare in America, or the 293,000 Pennsylvania residents without employment.
