I/P Diaries to read

Wed Feb 21, 2007 at 12:51:10 PM PDT

In the last few days there have been several diaries On the Israel Palestine Conflict that I consider must reads (Don't worry about reading the comments on the whole they are not of the same standard as the diaries in question).

They are
The Origins of A Conflict (I/P)(Part I) (With Updates) by  dmsarad (looking forward to more in this series)

The homeless in Palestine, for what purpose? by  mattes

Normal Life, Destroyed Homes, and Israeli Apartheid by  jon the antizionist jew

And one at MYDD
Israeli Policy Makes Apartheid More Likely by  shyboy

Please take the time and read them all they are well worth it.

After reading Mattes> diary  and my perception of what he was saying I thought it would be a good idea to do my own Diary showing the kind of response I think helps foster relations between different ethnicities. I got a friend to help me write this as I am not the best diary writer in the world. Hence a different tone than I would normally use but I agree wholehaertedly with it.

US Activist Political Prisoner in Australia

Mon Sep 12, 2005 at 04:20:48 PM PDT

I have searched and not found this  yet, so if I'm worng I'll delete it.

DETAINED US activist Scott Parkin is spending his last few hours in Australia in solitary confinement as the government prepares to deport him.

Mr Parkin - who was set to give an activism workshop when detained in Melbourne on Saturday - has had his six-month visitor's visa cancelled and is being held by the Department of Immigration on the grounds he is a potential risk to national security.

His lawyer Julian Burnside, QC, yesterday said he would consent to his deportation, but would try to force the government to reveal why he was a threat to Australia's security.

Attorney-General Philip Ruddock has refused to discuss why Mr Parkin is considered a security risk in Australia, telling Southern Cross Radio today he was not able to speculate on the assessment made by "competent authorities".

I Think I'm an Anti Semite (poll)

Fri Dec 17, 2004 at 05:34:54 AM PDT

To be fair I'm not quite sure what one is, but if you say something against Israel you seem to get this label. I read a story about 60,000 palestinian homes being destroyed and a female charity being ransacked by the Israeli forces and it is really hard not to think the world would be a better place without Israelis.

Then I think of the Israelis who stand up for the Palestinians and I think the world would be a terrible place without them. The Women of  Machsom Watch have to be some of the most moral and bravest women walking this Earth Today.

So I start looking at America and asking is it to blame, if the American Government stopped enabling Israel would it change? Or would it just fall apart if America wasn't there and then would the Israelis be persecuted again? One thing I do know it is Individuals that cause pain not Countries, not groups, because Individuals are the ones that ultimately make the choices.

American Foreign Policy

Wed Dec 08, 2004 at 06:15:49 PM PDT

I Probable harp on it a bit, I am worried that Americans have no idea of what is happening in the rest of the World. Americans  as individuals are great people but they do not seem to be interested in the World at Large. Someone was doing who the next Super power would be in one of the diaries, but he/she missed out some of the most possible countries.I put this down to lack of Knowledge about other countries and there capabilities.I have noticed someone writing about Pat GW Bushs Minister saying Bush told him there would be no casualties, do you know why Bush believed this??? Because a lot of people in the rest of the world do.
What is Americas relationship with India?
no idea

What is Indias relationship with China?

Australian/American FTA

Tue Dec 07, 2004 at 04:52:03 AM PDT

Lets start with USA crackdown on piracy I'm sure we are all for it.
article
"THE US Justice Department is to launch a massive global crackdown on intellectual property (IP) crimes, including copyright infringement, counterfeiting, illegal distribution of movies, theft of pay-TV signals and peer-to-peer music file-sharing.
According to US trade estimates, worldwide IP theft costs US companies $US250 billion ($320 billion) a year, and counterfeit products cost hundreds of millions more in lost taxes, wages and jobs."

So how does America enforce it in other countries lets look at what ISPs in Australia are saying about the FTA
article
"The Internet Industry Association claims the changes make possession of pirated material a criminal offence, with ISPs legally liable for infringing material that crosses their networks."

Will Americans Lose Access to the Internet

Thu Dec 02, 2004 at 07:15:44 PM PDT

Former CIA Director George J. Tenet yesterday called for new security measures to guard against attacks on the United States that use the Internet, which he called "a potential Achilles' heel."
"I know that these actions will be controversial in this age when we still think the Internet is a free and open society with no control or accountability," he told an information-technology security conference in Washington, "but ultimately the Wild West must give way to governance and control."The Washington Times

Bug Out Bag/ Preparedness

Tue Nov 30, 2004 at 08:13:03 PM PDT

As a none American who has been brought by parents to have one. They were in england during the second world war, having a democrat Uncle in Florida who would never dream of not being prepared. After listening to to Republicans who seem to say that people have to take responsibility for themselves, I have actually come to the conclusion that I believe more democrats would have a bug out bag and be prepared for natural disasters than Republicans. So this diary is really so you can tell me if I am right or not.
In other words do Republicans talk it but democrats do it?
