With 560+ amendments to pass, the Senate Finance Committee ambles their way through them. Votes on a handful of amendments have been recorded, with votes going down party lines, except for Senator Snowe breaking ranks once with an amendment offered by Senator Hatch.

Betcha didn't know that Glenn Beck was a member of "Kids in the Hall" years ago. (snark)  You have got to watch the You Tube of it..you will be amazed at how IT IS GLENN BECK to a tee.  I know this is not the kind of diary that will please some Kossacks because it isn't as informational as it should be, but heck, every now and then we just find something that makes us laugh but also is a Jon Stewart type of comedy truth that simplifies and cuts through the BS of politics.  ENJOY.

While i was tossing and turning last night, for some reason i had a breakthrough in what i would do if I had to make a call on whether to compromise out the public option and also my promises to a lot of voters who wanted "Change" or settle for less just to get something done.

I am starting the liveblogging of the EC Committee markup of the Health Care Bill.  Rep. Weiner has introduced an amendment forcing the Repugs on the committee to vote that they don't support Medicare (a govt. run plan).  Of course they won't vote for it, but Rep. Weiner wants them to put up or shut up about govt. run insurance.  By the way, today is the 44th anniversary of the start of Medicare.

I am sitting here listening to Senator Bunning trying to filibuster Kathleen Sebelius.  It is disgusting.  He is saying that she supports that dreaded "freedom of choice" position.  Also she doesn't have the experience to lead the HHS (even though she ran an entire state).

 The Senate was set to approve President Barack Obama's nominee for health and human services secretary Tuesday, giving the agency a leader in the midst of the swine flu outbreak.

   Morning debate and an afternoon vote were scheduled to confirm Kathleen Sebelius, the two-term Democratic governor of Kansas. She was expected to get the 60 votes needed in the Democratic-led Senate, though perhaps with little margin to spare.

I work with teenagers and fellow co-worker is telling students that the new community service program that President Obama is going to develop is not going to let them attend church if they sign up.  This is pure and simple fearmongering.  I know he is reading stuff like this from the freepers:

The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in "engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization." That means no church attendance or witnessing.

Just a quick diary.  AP is reporting that Al Franken's campaign has a right to see the data on the voters whose absentee ballots were rejected.  The Judge says that Franken is being "harmed" every hour that he is not allowed to use the information for his campaign.

Wow that was fast!  That's what i love about this campaign.  Obama has velvet gloves and a steel fist.  What i can't figure out is why on earth Cheney made an appearance yesterday to come out of hiding and endorse John McCain.  Probably to return the favor of John McCain publicly criticizing George Bush this past week.

I watched the Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner last night on an interview with Fox and she is slaying the right wing organizations left and right.  Even the Heritage Foundation (wacko conservative think tank) is trying to take her on, saying there are voting "irregularities".  We need to contribute to Jennifer Brunner's campaign.  She's doing a great job fighting for one/person one/vote. She's running against Greg Hart-R and it he is trying to smear her just like every Republican does these days. Here's a link to her campaign PAC:

McCain's Healthcare plan is rouge.  If McCain wins, you will be paying more in taxes.  Here are the facts, no spin.  On average, $1,300 a year in taxes to be exact or $110 dollars a month more taken out of your paycheck.  Is this enough to get your attention, or simple enough for you to understand? How: McCain will to tax workers for the value of health insurance that they receive from their employers.  Health care coverage by employers has decreased from 69 percent in 2000 to 60 percent today.  What will his plan do to that number? Drop to near nothing.  Needless to say anything about preconditions or group benefits of being in a plan with your employer.

I live in Texas which is red, but i got an email from a friend about Sept. 30, 2008 being Obama Blue Day.  I think this is a great idea, especially the part about registering 2 voters each.

I am a teacher and i have registered about 10 of my seniors (some voting Republican though...).  I don't know how viral this email is, but let's see if we can promote this to the top.!!!

This is reportedly video footage from the Pentecostal church Sarah Palin belongs to, clearly showing dozens of members of the congregation speaking in tongues and wandering zombie-like through the aisles, also occasionally thrashing on the floor in front of the pulpit.

I’ve seen barely anyone online mention this video so far, or even Palin’s connection in general to this church (including a pastor who preaches that God put George W. Bush into office), so thought I’d bring it to your attention.

All women need to watch this video.  Obama understands our dilemmas that we deal with in the workplace and elsewhere.  Especially pay attention when he talks about Lily Ledbetter's case that our current Supreme Court ruled on this year and what he did to try to overturn it through legislation in Congress. I don't know if it has been posted today, but i found it comforting to know that he will be fighting for me in the Whitehouse.

I hate to waste a daily diary on this...but i couldn't bare to sit through the Sunday pundits and group discussions.  I have a feeling that they were pimping McCain's performance at the Saddleback forum...Any surprises,positive or negative?
