CONFUSION: Israel Warned United Kingdom of Attacks?
Thu Jul 07, 2005 at 11:34:32 AM PDT
Tony Blair heading for more hot water? Well, figure this out:
There has been massive confusion over a denial made by the Israelis that the Scotland Yard had warned the Israeli Embassy in London of possible terrorist attacks "minutes before" the first bomb went off July 7. Israel warned London of the attacks a "couple of days ago," but British authorities failed to respond accordingly to deter the attacks, according to an unconfirmed rumor circulating in intelligence circles. While Israel is keeping quiet for the time-being, British Prime Minister Tony Blair soon will be facing the heat for his failure to take action."

Update [2005-7-7 15:16:22 by krag]: This diary is being torn apart by crazies. Really weird. I thought this article was interesting, but I've got this frothing brigade of nutbags and Israeli shills harassing me. Whatever, if you too have been slandered by the Israeli amen corner at Dkos you know the drill. I recommend people who can't trust Dkos because of this stuff check out uncensored news sources:

UK Must Investigate Possible Likud Links to Bombings
Thu Jul 07, 2005 at 09:26:28 AM PDT
UPDATE III: Essentially all of my responses to the hysterical slander I've been subjected to for this diary have been deleted. It's one thing to disagree with me, it's another to silence my words to try and marginalize me. To any and all who deleted my replies I want to say that you are cowards and slanderers.
So PNAC prime-mover Benjamin Netanyahu
changed his plans due to warning minutes before the attack.
[Netanyahu] had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said
"A hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred". How amazingly coincidental! How fantastically convenient! What are the odds!? My guess? Bush uses this event to ram Bolton through. Israel may have grown tired of waiting for the Iran war to start and needed some dead Americans or British to grease the wheels.
UK - start an investigation. Do not let Netanyahu or any of his Likud thugs out of the country!
Russia Worried May Destroy United States by Mistake
Fri May 20, 2005 at 11:00:26 AM PDT
Nobel Peace Prize-winning Austrailian physicist Helen Caldicott claims in a
newly published interview:
None of the Russian early-warning satellites work. Therefore the Russians are acutely worried that the United States doctrine of pre-emptive war is a real threat to them and it makes them very paranoid, because their satellites to provide them with better warning just do not work.
And that's just the beginning. You might want to sit down, because the "nuclear option" you're currently focused on is a mere hangnail compared to the massive coronary BushCo has brought the world to the brink of...
I Believe in the Democrats, and the Tooth Fairy
Thu May 19, 2005 at 08:02:50 PM PDT
The Democratic party, as currently constituted, is a party carefully designed to fall over --seemingly at the last gasp-- when the interests of corporations, the military, the surveillance state, or Israel come into conflict with the interests of ordinary Americans.
The Democrats gave George Bush thirty-nine standing ovations at his 2005 State of the Union address
Yes, this party that you spend your time at DailyKos defending, strategizing for and championing, repeatedly stood and cheered a man who less than ninety days earlier stole the Presidency of the United States for the second time in a row.
So sure, I believe the Democrats will win this filibuster fight. They would never allow these ludicrous corporatist judges on the bench! And I believe the Great Pumpkin will appear in my pumpkin patch any .... minute ... now.
The People's Government of the United States
Thu May 12, 2005 at 12:13:36 PM PDT
Raybin's excellent diary,
We Cannot Believe Americans Can Do These Things, offers a chilling reminder of the reality of the bloody madness that comes of a civil war of opposing ideologies. Clearly, most progressives and Democrats are rightfully appalled by the notion of the political divide between right and left escalating at some point to open, violent conflict. The consequences in this day and age of a widespread, violent revolutionary popular movement suppressed with state violence is too terrible to consider. Still, few of us are prepared to suffer life indefinitely under a quasi-fascist, theocratic police state either. What then is to be done?

I have a humble proposal that one and all should feel free to steal, refine and consider. It's called, The People's Government of the United States. Learn about it after the fold.
Rent/Mortgage Resistance
Tue May 10, 2005 at 11:13:31 AM PDT
I have half an idea here and I'm hoping the wider DKos community can find a way to refine it to a more usable precision. The idea basically goes like this:
Assumptions
- The only thing our government responds to is Big Money.
- Tax resistance doesn't work because too few people want to take on the IRS and besides, that's "the governments money" and no one really feels like they have a stake in it so no one really screams when it goes unpaid.
The Solution: Rent/Mortgage Resistance
Until the Bush administration is held accountable for its many and ongoing crimes Blue America will place all due rent and mortgage payments in escrow until such time as the government responds appropriately. When it does so, and not before, the money is released to America's banks and landlords.
I think this would help move impeachment proceedings along quite nicely, thank you very much. Refinements, por favor!
Stop the 'Stop the Impeachment Talk Already' Already
Thu May 05, 2005 at 11:11:27 AM PDT
wmtraillawyer has made his case that talk of impeachment over the "smoking gun" evidence that the British minutes provide should be silenced.
This diary is for supporters of pursuing impeachment of Bush. This is the place to make your argument that the Democratic party must draw the line at this disgraceful disclosure and force the administration's hand.
Recommend this diary, and post your reasons why you believe it is in the best interests of the country the the Democrats pursue impeachment.
My reasoning past the fold:
Israeli Agents Provocateurs Disrupt Peace Protest, Test Painful US 'Salt Bullets' on Activists
Wed May 04, 2005 at 11:21:51 AM PDT
In a
fascinating article, Israeli peace activist
Uri Avnery contrasts the ways in which left-wing and right-wing activists were treated by the Israeli government in separate demonstrations just two days ago. He also describes how Israeli agents infiltrate non-violent peace demonstrations and throw rocks at Israeli security forces to provide a pretext for violent crackdowns.
Thus the secret came out and was also documented by the cameras: "Arabized" undercover soldiers had been sent into action. These started throwing stones at the security people in order to provide them with a pretext to attack us. The moment they were uncovered, they turned on the demonstrators nearest to them, drew revolvers, and started to arrest them. Later on, when it became clear that the events had been recorded by foreign television crews, the police officially confirmed that throwing stones is the method used by "Arabized" undercover soldiers so as to merge with the crowd.
Report: U.S. Troops Taking Hostages in Iraq
Wed Apr 06, 2005 at 11:11:02 AM PDT
Reuters is reporting that U.S. troops, in violation of international law, have allegedly
taken the mother and sister of a suspected insurgent hostage in Iraq.
A message purportedly left at the house by the troops, which urged the brothers to surrender, contained a mobile telephone number. This was answered by an American soldier who appeared to be aware of Batawi's accusation but declined further comment.
Understanding the 'Compassion' of the Right
Thu Mar 31, 2005 at 12:03:15 PM PDT
I have been having a terrible time understanding what drives the right to their rare and often clumsily expressed feelings of compassion and empathy.
From what I am able to tell, right-wing empathy seems to only be evoked in cases where human "blobs" are involved - zygotes, fetuses, persons in vegetative states etc. What empathy and compassion they have clearly stops well short of ordinary, everyday human beings.
What is it about the psychology of the right that rouses them to such fierce and righteous indignation over the perceived rights of blobs? I have a theory. Read on...
Rachel Corrie Slandered Again
Thu Mar 17, 2005 at 11:09:51 AM PDT
No, they just can't help themselves. As the the two-year anniversary of the alleged murder of American peace activist
Rachel Corrie is
mourned in the United States, the Israeli slander machine has been cranked up yet again.
Angela Bertz, writing for
Israel Insider, has launched
yet another barrage of outright lies, dubious insinuations and disgustingly patronizing goop.
A fascinating and instructive exercise in observing Israeli propaganda at work, I encourage every American to remain on top of what is being said in both Israel and the United States about this American citizen killed by the Israeli government.
LET JUSTICE BE DONE: Family of Rachel Corrie Sues State of Israel, IDF

Slain American Peace Activist Rachel Corrie
Let Justice Be Done Though the Heavens Fall
Two years ago today, March 16, 2003, according to the sworn affidavits of seven eyewitness, American peace activist Rachel Corrie was murdered in the Palestinian refugee camp of Rafah by members of the Israeli Defense Forces. Subsequently, the corporate-controlled, right-wing media and governments of both the United States and Israel have attempted to ignore, distort, suppress and ultimately whitewash essentially all news of this fact. This morning the state of Israel and the IDF were put on notice by the family of Rachel Corrie that they are going to be forced to answer for the crime.
Chomsky Targets Content-Free Elections
Sun Mar 13, 2005 at 11:35:53 AM PDT
Many at DKos have been trained to howl like wounded dogs and jump up and down at the merest mention of the name 'Noam Chomsky'. This diary is
not about Noam Chomsky. Do you understand? It is about the facts that he points out in
his new article.
Again don't write about Chomsky! No one gives a good God damn what you think of the man. Spare us.
First, every reflexive, yellow-dog Democrat on DKos needs to confront the following (from the article):
The New York Times commented that Kerry didn't make any hint about possible government involvement in health care programs because that position has, in their words, "no political support." Well, according to the most recent polls, 80% of the population thinks that the government ought to guarantee health care for everyone, and furthermore regard it as a moral obligation. That tells you something about people's values. But there's "no political support."
Israeli Air Force Refuser Speaks in U.S.
Tue Mar 08, 2005 at 12:48:15 PM PDT
Yonatan Shapira was a pilot in the Israeli Air Force since 1991 before he was dismissed for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories. He is one of the 26 pilots who in October 2003 signed a letter refusing to participate in aerial attacks on populated areas of Palestine.
"These actions are illegal and immoral, and are a direct result of the ongoing occupation which is corrupting all of Israeli society," the letter states. "Perpetuation of the occupation is fatally harming the security of the state of Israel and its moral strength
Shapira is now speaking to groups all over the world, including ardently pro-Israel groups where "tempers run high all around him".
His message is evidently getting through to people, however, and he seems to me the kind of spokesperson Israel needs right now -measured, experienced, patriotic, principled- to counter increasing global cynicsim about the state of Israel under Ariel Sharon.
Journalist Amy Goodman Attacked by Jewish Right
Thu Mar 03, 2005 at 10:10:32 AM PDT
Award-winning journalist
Amy Goodman of
Pacifica Radio's Democracy Now has come under attack in a stinging editorial in
The Jewish Press Online,
What's Good About Amy Goodman?.
Goodman, as usual, recited the full list of her kosher credentials when she delivered an emotional eulogy, before thousands of young people, many wearing keffiyahs, for Rachel Corrie at Evergreen College in Olympia, Washington. Corrie, the young American woman killed by an Israeli military bulldozer as she tried to block its work of saving Israeli lives, has been lionized in death by the anti-Israel Left, and Goodman's eulogy was a major contribution to the creation of the Corrie legend. "Your wonderful classmate," Goodman told the crowd, "was unbelievably brave."
'Republic', Not 'Republican': Time to Wreck Their Brand
Sun Feb 20, 2005 at 09:12:22 AM PDT
As the Democratic party continues to suffer the insidious, brand-destrying meme of calling Democratic leaders, organizations, initiatives and values 'Democrat', it's long past time to return the favor.
From now on all Republican leaders, organizations, initiatives and 'values' (such as they are) should be referred to as 'Republic'.
We now have Republic Senators, a Republic pResident, Republic social security privatization proposals, and the Republic party.
Many thanks fellow kossacks and be sure to incorporate this important change into all your future communications.
Right-Wing Death Squads Arrive in America
Sun Feb 06, 2005 at 09:40:34 PM PDT
No self-respecting banana republic would be complete without right-wing death squads, right? Well, Donald Rumsfeld has thoughtfully filled in that glaring gap for the United States. American citizens may now be killed in America by U.S. soldiers and special forces secretly and arbitrarily in "extra-legal missions" by the Pentagon's new
Strategic Support Branch.
... the Pentagon's new special-ops units are headed up by notorious religious fanatic, Lt. Gen. William Boykin, who calls the U.S. Army "the house of God" and Islamic insurgents "agents of Satan." He warned Muslims, "my God is bigger than your god, which is an idol."
Boykin's command will now dispatch post-modern Christian crusaders to cleanse the world of Satanic Muslims and other miscreants. The Pentagon's new special forces will be able to run operations of which the CIA knows nothing.
This is the first time the military will be permitted to hunt and kill American citizens since the Civil War. So be sure to "support the troops", or they might just have to kill you.
Really, the Nazis never had it so good.
Bush Address Was Cynical, Not Fanatical
Wed Jan 26, 2005 at 12:10:49 AM PDT
I have been very disappointed in nearly all the coverage I've read of the inaugural address of Dear Leader. Whether from the
left or the
right, * is being chastised for overreaching with his obviously absurd policy of "ending tyranny on earth".
Look, this speech had one simple purpose: to give the administration cover to do whatever the hell it wants over the next four years to anyone, anytime, anywhere. That is it. It had precisely zero to do with spreading democracy, ending tyranny or even with imposing Christianity on heathens. It was about introducing to America and the world a new, more durable rationale for launching a series of rapacious criminal attacks on any number of countries, governments and individuals. It was about money and power.
How so many have allowed themselves to be juked into arguing the merits of imposing "democracy" worldwide is beyond me. I guess BushCo is just very good at what they do.
