this is really an incredible story. a young man raised in egypt enlists in the army reserves on sept. 11, 2001. he becomes a buddhist and while in iraq, his religious convictions grow. he tries to attain conscientious objector status and come home, but is given a hard time by CO's and fellow soldiers. he tells of the horrors he witnessed and his difficulties in getting out. just go read it at alternet. this is one of the most amazing iraq stories i have read.
