GA-SEN-Martin Raises $350K in First Ten Days!
Fri Apr 04, 2008 at 07:35:24 AM PDT
We all know about the tactics Senator Chambliss used against war hero Max Cleland in 2002 and WE WILL NEVER FORGET but I am not going to go into that again.
Jim Martin a progressive announced his candidacy against Chambliss in mid to late March and it seems in around ten days he raised $350,000. Not bad for a progressive in Georgia!!
Mayor Franklin on Bill Clinton - Thank YOU!!!
Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 10:42:13 AM PDT
Thank you Mayor Franklin for standing up for what is right for our party.
The AJC is reporting that Mayor Franklin "Speaking at the 40th annual MLK commemorative service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Franklin said the country is on the "cusp of turning the impossible into reality. Yes this is reality, not fantasy or fairy tales.""
She said this with Clinton in the room!!!
Georgia Bucking the Trend - A One Party State
Wed Nov 08, 2006 at 06:09:17 AM PDT
I don't mean to be a downer on such an AWSOME day but since I live in Georgia and see what is happening to the Democratic party here every day I can't help but point out that Georgia... even more than the rest of the south is completely out of step with the rest of the country.
We all can see the evidence that the Republicans really can't call themselves a national party anymore... they are it would seem to me a party of the South... they lose big... I mean BIG in the northeast down through PA and OH and they suffer losses in the mountain states as well.
The Georgia Democratic Party is Dead to Me
Thu Jul 20, 2006 at 03:35:32 PM PDT
If anyone cares I have decided today that I can no longer call myself a Democrat in the State of Georgia.
My thoughts of leaving the party started back in 2004 when with the help of "Democrats" the Georgia legislature passed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage... and for all intents and purposes civil unions. The ballot measure passed with 76% of the vote in 2004. That is fine if it makes 76% of the people in Georgia happy to discriminate against a minority... hooray for them (remember we are talking Georgia... I guess they get off on discrimination down here). My partner and I will continue to live our lives with dignity.
They want another Wellstone story
Thu Feb 09, 2006 at 05:39:42 AM PDT
The shameless Republicans want to turn this into another Wellstone funeral story... the only reason we have a Republican Senator from MN and probably another in MO is the Wellstone funeral in 2002. The way the MSM and the Republicans spun that story won them AT LEAST two senate seats.
They will stop at nothing to win an election... NOTHING.
They will beat up on gays...
They will play the fear card invoking 9/11 over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...
They will turn the funeral of a liberal Senator or civil rights activist into political spin game for their gain... (why do you think "W" went to King's funeral? little Karl Rove knew EXACTLY what was going to happen in Atlanta and had his spin machine wound up and ready to go)
They cheat and steal their way through close states in presidential elections...
They launder funds and redistrict states whenever they feel like it...
Oh... I could go on and on but I have to get ready to go to work... feel free to offer more.
God Bless Coretta Scott King
God Bless America
God save our country from these criminals!!
President Clinton on Today - Where is the Sacrifice?
Fri Sep 16, 2005 at 04:36:44 AM PDT
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to President Clinton for saying what I have been thinking and saying for at least two years.
During an interview on the Today Show on NBC this morning President Clinton was asked how he would deal with paying for the rebuilding on the gulf coast. President Clinton said he would start by repealing tax cuts for the wealthiest in our country. He said that we cannot go on borrowing from China, Saudi Arabia, Japan and others so we can afford our own self indulgences. He also said while our young people give their lives in Iraq and while people suffer on the gulf coast the people of this country have not been asked by their leader to make any sacrifices. (not exact quotes)
A George W Bush Success Story
Sat Sep 10, 2005 at 08:19:05 PM PDT
I have been having trouble thinking of one thing this president has been successful at.
Failure - ballooning deficits and national debt...
Failure - very slow job growth compared to all other recoveries
Failure - of course the mess he has got us into in Iraq
Failure - the federal government response to Katrina
Failure - placing political hacks in very important positions (FEMA and many others)
Failure - capturing OBL "dead or alive"
Failure - finding WMD in Iraq
This is just the tip of the iceberg... feel free to add additional failures below.
Success - dividing and polarizing the country
This president's legacy will be leading our beloved country into one of its darkest periods. Never before have we been more divided and polarized... NEVER!! What a sad commentary on "W's" leadership or lack thereof. His drive and "hard work" has been focused on gaining and maintaining power... NOTHING ELSE. Power and money are all "W" cares about.
God help us!!!
South Out of Step With America... Again
Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 06:07:28 AM PDT
Before moving from the northeast to the south eight years ago I heard that the south was very different from the rest of the country. I never really believed it but after moving here I began to slowly realize that the south is very different. Some people down here haven't gotten past the civil war... and now it seems, based on the numbers below from Pew, they the may never let go of their beloved "W".
Why is the south the only region of the country that has "W" over 40%? Why is "W's" approval rating on average 6.3% higher in the south than in the rest of the country?
I think it is possible over time that the south will for a period become the "solid south" for Republicans while the rest of the country turns blue (and sane). I know the south is already solid for the Republicans but if the poll below is any indication we may be heading for more blue states (IA, OH, CO, AZ, NV, MO???).
I don't understand these people... can someone shed some light on this for me? I long for my people in the northeast!!!
See poll numbers below...
