Debate: Bush vs. Bush

Thu Sep 30, 2004 at 01:39:52 AM PDT

This may have already been posted, but just in case it hasn't..

It was widely reported that, at a campaign stop today, Bush told the crowd that "Kerry could debate himself" (because, y'know he's such a flip-flopper.)

Nevermind the fact that Bush can't decide whether he wants to get Osama (dead or alive!)  Or doesn't really care all that much whether we ever find him or not.

Anyway - it reminded me of this gem from the Daily Show last year.  I thought maybe a few people here could use a quick laugh too.

W is for Weak. My suggestion for getting the Dems on-message.

Thu Sep 16, 2004 at 08:32:08 PM PDT

I've gotten pretty heavily involved with some offline activities to support local democratic candidates, and as a result have been spending very little time on Kos, and haven't made any posts in what seems like a very long time.   I'm doing this today only because I had a random brainstorm in the car this afternoon, and I think I might actually have a useful idea for the Democrats and the Kerry campaign - I know a lot of people read here, so this seemed like a good place to post.

I'm a little short for time, so please pardon rushed nature of this entry - or if I'm repeating stuff already said.

It seems to me that one of the problems the Kerry camp is having is finding a good, one-line label with which to peg Bush.  The Republicans, OTOH, experimented with several and found one which seemed to stick:  "flip-flopper"  They then used excellent message discipline to make sure it got heard.

Where to put $1,000?

Thu Mar 04, 2004 at 08:32:27 AM PDT

If this has already been covered, I apologize, and would appreciate any pointers to the relevant thread.

I'ts been a tight year in my household, so I've only been able to donate a little money to candidates to date.

This month, though, I got some unexpected bonus dollars and want to put them to the best possible use - - but there are now so many ways to help and candidates to donate to (which is great, btw) I am unsure how best to proceed.

I am not nearly as well informed as most of the regulars on this board.  Therefore I wanted to tap the community for advice.

I know this is a piddling amount in the grand scheme of things, but I'd still like to do my best to make it count.  If you had $1000 to put to work for Democratic political causes right now, to which campaigns or organizations would you donate?  Should I just send it to the Kerry people, or divide up among some of the congressional candidates?  Or are there better alternatives altogether?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!
