Gore is out
Sat Feb 17, 2007 at 08:47:32 PM PDT
This article was just linked on the front page of the Huffington Post...
Former US vice president Al Gore has ruled out a bid for the White House in the 2008 elections and will carry on his fight against global climate change.
"I have no intention to run for president," Gore said in an interview conducted in Los Angeles and broadcast Thursday by the BBC.
"I can't imagine in any circumstance to run for office again," said the former Democratic vice president under then-president Bill Clinton.
Gore was defeated in the 2000 presidential race by Republican President George W. Bush.
Here's the full article. This is not an attempt to spread misinformation, this is an article that was posted on the site of a full-fledged cable news channel, albeit a Government-funded one in France. It claims to quote Gore from his most recent BBC interview on Thursday, February 15, 2007.

Network News Showdown: Williams, Gibson, or Couric?

Now that all three network news outlets offer video podcasts, I've been trying them out. I'm curious which, if any, people around here choose to watch...
Tell Lieberman to Actually Concede
Wed Aug 09, 2006 at 12:35:52 AM PDT
Wish Joe Lieberman would be a more dignified candidate, and endorse the primary winner rather than run as an independent? Thankfully, his official Senate website offers a handy web form to help get this across to him:

I'd suggest choosing "Campaigns/Elections" under Issue.
Worth a shot.
Zogby: Bush Would Be Creamed by Past Presidents. Still Beats Kerry.
Thu Sep 08, 2005 at 03:13:26 PM PDT
From
Zogby:
In a sign of just how severe the damage to the President's standing caused by Katrina is, the Zogby America survey finds that, despite his re-election last fall, President Bush would lose to every modern president since Jimmy Carter, the one-term Democrat who left office amid record unpopularity and a presidency rated, at the time, dismally. He would also lose to his own father, who left office amid an economic recession triggered, in part, by a devastating hurricane.
However, in one of the few bright spots for the President, he would still beat Massachusetts Democrat John Kerry, by a narrow, one-point margin.
ABC Reporter Confronts McClellan, O'Reilly Advocates Violence
Thu May 19, 2005 at 12:17:39 PM PDT
Sorry, I had to share this. Here's a really twisted excerpt from last night's O'Reilly factor, where he played a video clip from a recent White House press conference, and then commented on the exchange:
What has John Kerry done for us?
Thu May 12, 2005 at 11:28:59 AM PDT
Before 2004.
I'm not being sarcastic. I wanted to create an entry for people to - rather than debate his merits as a candidate, or his intentions for 2008 - just state his primary accomplishments as a Senator; instances where he took serious initiative to fight for an important issue. I know about his solid voting record and early anti-war activities, but what else?
I, like most people I'm sure, really didn't hear much from the guy in all those years between Vietnam and 2004, but that doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't fighting. I'm genuinely curious.

Is it just me, or did Nancy Soderberg kick Bill O'Reilly's ass?
Fri Mar 18, 2005 at 10:52:20 PM PDT
On Thursday night, Bill O'Reilly had Democrat & former Ambassador Nancy Soderberg on his show for the 'Personal Story' segment. I don't know much about this woman except that she was on that famous Daily Show episode where Jon Stewart disappointed a lot of people here ("Bush may have done the right thing in Iraq...I might implode.")
Now I may be interpreting this wrong and it could have come off quite different on television (I'm sure O'Reilly's video editors inserted some red flames into Soderberg's eyes,) but it really looks like she did an excellent job of dealing with the man. O'Reilly is always out for progressive blood and he's excellent at framing a debate ... when he doesn't decide to just yell or cut the other person's mic. But Soderberg not only made her point eloquently, she got in a few digs and almost totally deflated Bill by the end. I was impressed.
