Larry Johnson is now officially just making stuff up to smear Obama

Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 07:43:35 PM PDT

The latest post over at No Quarter explaining why Obama is not qualified to be President contains a number of giant factual errors, but none so egregious as this one.

The Neocon Went Down to Georgia

Sun Jun 22, 2008 at 03:25:08 PM PDT

This is something I wrote for fun in a discussion about Obama's potential success in Georgia in an obscure thread in the back waters around here.  Several people found it, liked it, and suggested I post it as a diary.

All apologies to Charlie Daniels.

The truth about disenfranchisement in the 2008 primary season

Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 09:55:50 AM PDT

I am an Iowa voter.  Every time I see the "popular vote" count (as I did last night over and over again on MSNBC) and hear about it (as I did in Hillary's speech last night), I feel genuinely disenfranchised.

Why the Republican fearmongering isn't working any more

Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 05:16:56 AM PDT

The Jeremiah Wright stuff was an attempted Swiftboating.  Why didn't it work like it did in 2004?  Interestingly, my mother (a white, rural, female in her mid-50s) has a great answer.

Presidential candidate besides Obama?

Sun Jun 01, 2008 at 07:07:05 AM PDT

I have a friend who is a political moderate and is at least somewhat committed to voting for McCain.  I'm actively trying to convince him to vote for Obama, but I'm more strongly advocating that he simply vote for anyone besides McCain, because I have several strong oppositions to his candidacy.

My question simply is: if you were to recommend that someone vote for a candidate besides the Democratic nominee, who would you encourage that person to vote for?

Is Obama our Reagan?

Tue May 27, 2008 at 09:46:15 AM PDT

The progressive movement is following the pattern of growth that the conservative movement showed in the 1960s to 1980s - a pattern that led to domination of American politics for multiple decades.

Seven fun facts about John McCain

Thu May 22, 2008 at 07:04:19 AM PDT

This is an email I recently sent to a bunch of my politically independent friends.  The goal was to outline some of the problems with McCain's campaign and political choices.  Along those lines, I deliberately sourced everything in the email to either respected media sources, government websites, books, or actual video of it on YouTube.  I've included the full text below in case you'd like to send it out yourself.

Dealing with racism on the campaign trail

Sun May 11, 2008 at 02:03:31 PM PDT

I have dealt with racist rhetoric from many individuals throughout my life.  There are only a few ways to effectively deal with it when you're confronted face-to-face with a semi-anonymous racist.  Since many campaign workers seem to be dealing with this issue right now, here's a primer.

Why a (D) by the name isn't enough to win my vote - and how that changes the game

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 12:50:20 PM PDT

Here's a question for you.

If you walked into the ballot box today and had to choose between one of the most conservative Blue Dogs - say, Jim Marshall (D) of Georgia - or a principled Republican that you don't agree with, but you at least respect as being principled and having some good views - say, Ron Paul (R) of Texas - who earns your vote?

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool progressive, but in this case, and in pretty much every similar case, I'd vote for the Republican.

What does that mean in the grander scope of American politics?
