NY-20 Albany Times Union endorses Gillibrand

Sun Nov 05, 2006 at 07:34:50 AM PDT

The Albany Times Union endorsed Kirsten Gillibrand today for Congress in NY-20.  This is great news for Kirsten.  In the past, the paper endorsed John "Kick Ass" Sweeney.  After his recent problems - maybe his nom de plume should be John "Getting His Ass Kicked" Sweeney.

Pataki pandering - will veto emergency contraception bill

Mon Aug 01, 2005 at 06:56:03 AM PDT

I'm so angry - sitting here reading the morning paper.  Not the best start to the week.  Governor Pataki's office last night said he would veto the emergency contraception/morning-after pill, which was recently approved by the NY state legislature.

New York Times

Pataki has long been a supporter of reproductive rights.  Now, however, he seems to be trying to curry favor with the religious right in an attempt to bolster a run for the Presidency in 2008.  This just boggles the mind, as it is a major flip-flop for Pataki.

WH Press Briefing - it's over and uneventful

Thu Jul 21, 2005 at 09:52:12 AM PDT

scheduled for 12:45 today and can be viewed at whitehouse.gov when the link becomes live.  I don't see it listed on any of the C-span channels.  About to go live now.

Yesterday's press conference primarily dealt with the SCOTUS nomination of John Roberts, although there was a question as to whether or not Karl Rove was responsible for "leaking" Roberts' nomination to the press.

With the attempted explosions in London, will Rove get another pass?  Is the WH press corps tired of getting the "I won't comment on an ongoing investigation" response?

NYT: Leaked Classified Report says we ARE vulnerable

Mon May 02, 2005 at 10:08:17 PM PDT

The New York Times has received a copy of a classified report that essentially says that because of Iraq and Afghanistan, our ability to undertake operations elsewhere in the world has been compromised.
Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, informed Congress in a classified report that major combat operations elsewhere in the world, should they be necessary, would probably be more protracted and produce higher American and foreign civilian casualties because of the commitment of Pentagon resources in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This report was leaked, but only the Times has a story on it so far.

C-SPAN programming alert - Gannon and Kos

Thu Apr 07, 2005 at 05:19:26 PM PDT

No - not together - although that might be fun!

C-SPAN is televising the National Press Club forum on "Who qualifies as a Journalist"

ePluribus Media is covering the forum, which features Gannon/Guckert, Wonkette and others.

It's on C-SPAN2 Friday 9:30am

C-SPAN is also doing a Q&A with some guy named Markos Moulitsas Sunday at 8pm.  Don't know anything about the details, but I did see it listed on the C-SPAN website when I went to see if they were televising the NPC forum.  Check out "This week on C-SPAN".

Details below the fold
