YearlyKos Convention Needs YOU

Tue Dec 19, 2006 at 05:32:20 AM PDT

Yes, I know that since YOU were named Time's Person of the Year, everybody wants a piece.  And who can blame them?  YOU are utterly fabulous -- leading a revolution while wearing your pajamas, wrestling with the mighty for the power to change the world, and doing it all for free!

YearlyKos Convention 2007 is no different than all those newbies fussing over you and grabbing for a piece of the freshly publicized, justifiably lionized, interweb-y you.

Well, actually, YearlyKos is different than those adulating parvenus.   Let me tell you how.

OK endangers access to contraception: repost

Thu Mar 09, 2006 at 07:39:55 AM PDT

I want to alert Oklahoma readers of the latest abomination to come out of our State House.   HB 2884 passed out of committee on Monday night with a pharmacists' bill of rights deftly inserted.  But not only does the bill employ language that clearly links abortifacients with murder, it is also worded in a devious manner that appears to protect pharmacists who wish to refuse to dispense contraception altogether.

Continued below the fold.

Will I meet you in June?

Wed Feb 22, 2006 at 12:51:37 PM PDT

I bought the Trollhouse Cookbook when it was first published.  I registered for the convention months ago.  I've marked out the dates on my calendar.  I made my hotel reservations (at the Riviera; thanks for reminding me and thanks for negotiating the good rate).  I donated to the fundraiser.  I may even figure out how to bid on something at eBay.

I support Yearly Kos.  I'm going to Las Vegas this June, and I want to know who else will be there.

Please tell me after the fold.

Republican Trifecta **UPDATED w/Poll**

Mon Nov 07, 2005 at 01:01:49 PM PDT

Update To heck with substance! Who has the worst congressional representation in America today? Take the poll below or submit your own candidates. end update Believe me, I'm in no way responsible [I voted against them all!], but I am stuck with arguably the worst crew currently in Congress.  Go ahead.  Try and trump my trio of federal representatives: Ernest Istook, Jim Inhofe, Tom Coburn.  Can't be done.

This alone should make clear how starkly different the world I live in is from the world I lurk in.  Most of my neighbors did vote for these guys.  Sometimes it's two parallel universes.  But when I saw that today's hometown political news was really at odds, in surprising ways, with a highly recommended weekend diary dealing with the same event, I thought I would bring it to your attention, see what you thought and ask you why.

More after the fold.

Are you Drinking Liberally? [community diary]

Tue Oct 25, 2005 at 05:51:19 PM PDT

This tension is agony!  I need a break.  Maybe you do too.  Have you thought about Drinking Liberally?

If you live in central Oklahoma, you can meet here with fellow liberals this and every Thursday for warm conviviality and cold beer.  [Or the drink of your choice.]

What about you?  Does your town host a DL?  Which fellow travelers might we meet there?  Tell us more after the jump....

PS2 or Xbox? w/ribbing and Poll!

Thu Jun 30, 2005 at 03:09:53 PM PDT

Sorry to bump somebody's diary for such an inconsequential request, but I need your help!  I promised our son a video game for his 8th birthday.  Sure, that bought me a few years (which I did not use wisely to research this issue) but now I've run out of time.  He turns 8 on Monday.  And I know nothing about video games.

Who else would I turn to in this time of need but the Kossian gamesters?  You'll educate me, won't you?  If you can help, please join me on the other side.  (Gentle mockery also permitted.)
