Well this is a scary title for a first diary but please read with an open mind.

Here are my assumptions that I take for the purposes of the diary. Fell free to refute them:

1.  GWB was selected as a point man for the neo-con / social conservative agenda of the current Republican Party.  He is the public face for the movement but not the principal driver.

2.  The Republicans have built a party apparatus that functions no matter who is in charge within a few restrictions.  This is an important distinction from the Dems that has been commented on recently (the inverted pyramid comparison).  In the Republican model the intelligence is located in the infrastucture.  In the Democratic model the intelligence is located in the leader.
