Sun Nov 25, 2007 at 05:57:31 AM PDT

There was an article in the Metro section of the Washington Post this thanksgiving that I thought was interesting. The headline:

This isn't yet another Dem bashing diary, but I thought I'd share my experience this morning with a DNC staffer.

THIS WAR WILL NOT END W/ BUSH IN OFFICE

Tue May 22, 2007 at 04:36:06 PM PDT

I hear alot of belly aching about what the dems have done with the war funding bill. The fact of the matter is we still are powerless until we get enough names on the R side to impeach or until 08.

Mike Gravel on CNBC this morning

Mon Apr 30, 2007 at 12:12:02 PM PDT

I was watching cnbc this morning, as I usually do and was surprised to see them have Mike Gravel on. Normally, they have some money guys who tend to be rather amoral and only talk about the green stuff. Ocassionally, they'll say some passing remark about politics, which is always of a Republican slant.

Anyway... Gravel was on an said some really stupid stuff...more...

Stocks Surge on Positive Housing Report

Tue Apr 03, 2007 at 05:37:04 PM PDT

NEW YORK -- Stocks surged Tuesday on signs of resilience in the housing market and the U.S. consumer, with falling oil prices giving investors an extra reason to rally. The Dow Jones industrials gained more than 120 points to reach a five-week high.

The National Association of Realtors' index for pending sales of existing homes rose in February at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 0.7 percent. The index is well below where it was a year ago but stronger than investors expected, reassuring them that the housing sector, while weak, is not being pummeled by the struggling subprime mortgage sector.

GOP's last gasp: TAXES!

Sat Nov 04, 2006 at 12:54:58 PM PDT

Not much of a diary writer, but I'd like to throw down some thoughts about this weekend and into Tuesday.

The GOP's last ditch effort to win voters by screaming "Democrats will raise your taxes!"

PROPAGANDA PLOY: NFL Dirty Bomb

Thu Oct 19, 2006 at 05:28:17 AM PDT

I'll keep this short and sweet, since I'm getting ready to hop on the subway and head to work before the baby wakes up...

My beloved wife's mother lives in VA and is a republican. No ordinary republican, well connected with the DC folks (father-in-law, actually).

Consequently, she is a virtual funnel of on-line right wing propaganda emails and talking points (you know the kind [constitution mentions jesus, liberals hate freedom, etc]).

Well, last night while she was talking to my wife on the phone . My wife pauses and says to me, "have you heard about this nfl dirtybomb? My mom says it's on the channel 5 news".

Bush predicts Republican election victory despite Iraq war's political impact in US

WASHINGTON President George W. Bush acknowledged that the war in Iraq is having a political impact, but predicted Wednesday that voters will reward his Republican Party in next month's national elections for its stance on secruity and the economy.

The Iraq war is "tough on the American psyche," he said at a news conference in the Rose Garden, repeating a phrase he had used before.

"I believe the elections will be decided by security and the economy," Bush said just four weeks before the vote. He added that he expects his party will maintain control of both the House and the Senate in the Nov. 7 elections.

"Dems have already seized control in stock returns" updated

Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 06:46:36 AM PDT

Here's some interesting news for your Tuesday morning. I'm sure this gives fuel to the "both parties are the same" mentality that is prevalent among many "left-minded" people.

IMO, it's just an indicator of the changing political landscape. Wall streeters tend to know which way the wind is blowing before the rest of the country. I think it also goes to show that honesty and integrity combined with not being a DUMBASS (republican sicko-phant) helps.

I also think that the horrible MSM will stop being the GOP's lackey once the tides changes, but that's another diary

SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones) -- Democrats might not wrest control of Congress in next month's U.S. elections, but new research suggests the current minority party has already mastered the stock market.

Blue Investment Management LLC, a New York-based investment adviser, says the stocks of U.S. companies that contribute more money to Democrats than to Republicans have significantly outperformed both the Standard & Poor's 500 Index (SPX) and shares of Republican-leaning companies over the past five years.

Hilarious post on electoral-vote.com today

Here's a funny story from the electoral-vote guy (whom many of you know).

I think he beginning to tip his hand. In all honesty, I remember this site tightening the '04 numbers in line with the outcome (with a little Ohio tricks).

NJ-SEN: Menendez worst.ad.ever.

Saw an ad last night for Menendez's campaign and there was a line that was utter pathetic, pandering, and really really lame...

NY DAILY NEWS LAMONT HIT PIECE OUT TODAY

Tue Aug 08, 2006 at 05:05:16 AM PDT

out this morning.

Lamont postures as a businessman who was so outraged by the war in Iraq, and by Lieberman's support of it, that he couldn't keep himself from running. Really? Lamont gave money to Lieberman as late as February 2005, when the senator's war position was clear.

But even if Lamont has grown into a committed anti-war activist, he has no clue what to do. He's a complainer, not a leader.
