Short diary, and please let me know if it's been diaried already.
ESPN story here tells how Dale Petroskey resigned Tuesday as president of the baseball Hall of Fame after its board's executive committee found he "failed to exercise proper fiduciary responsibility."
You know who Dale Petrovsky is, don't you?

Why is our Media addicted to Idiot News?

I know that the primary season kicks off this week. I just thought some could use some levity, a departure from the Obama/Edwards/Hillary sucks because XYZ for a minute.
Reading the headlines at MSNBC, one's eye is usually drawn to the sensationalistic. Sometimes, the human interest leaps off the page. Sometimes the human interest is so ridiculous, it really calls for a little deeper reading.
Leap, please.
Where's the Tort Reform Outrage?

Here's a new one. The airlines are trying to compel the CIA and FBI to testify in order to make the US government take on more culpability for 9/11. This is in an effort to protect themselves from lawsuits.
There must be some entity that scours legal case files to find that rare lawsuit where someone sues a McDonald's for getting fat. They must be hard to find, because I would bet most silly lawsuits get thrown out before even going before a judge. However, Somebody files papers to sue United Airlines because they missed a birthday party in Seattle, and it gets broadcast all over our journalistic world. Liberals and Conservatives, alike, deride the half-witted greed of frivilous lawsuits that are rare, and usually don't even get past the clerk.

Okay, Atrios posted some content on this article by Anna Marie Slaughter today. It's a puff piece about how we all need to eschew partisanship and make everything work together, because, you know, the country really needs to pull together.

Hillary Trounces All in Hypothetical Matchups
Tue Apr 10, 2007 at 07:33:47 PM PDT
In a new Gallup Poll, via politcalwire.com, we find that Hillary trounces the competition in their latest poll. Hillary has 39% support compared to Barack Obama's 19%, John Edwards 15% and Al Gore's 14%. Al Gore has stated repeatedly that he is not running for president. All other candidates, including Wesley Clark and Al Sharpton, neither of whom are running, are in single digits.

Made you look. This is a drunken blow-off Saturday night music diary.
What was the most exciting musical discovery you made in 2006?
I walked into the world section of Virgin Records on Michigan Ave. in Chicago, and heard a wonderful song. I asked what it was, and was told it was "O Filosofo" by Jorge Ben. I walked right over and bought "The Definitive Collection", which I have since bought 6 more copies to give away as gifts. "Zumbi" and "Pais Tropical" are two of the most beautiful songs I have heard in my life.
Oh, jump.

I work in downtown Chicago, worked late, and caught a cab home tonight.
After a little back and forth, I asked my cab driver where he was from, and he proudly said he was a Muslim from Bangladesh.

I'm sure there are thousands of examples of this in the last month alone, but this one made me snap.
Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote an article that is listed under a banner that says, "NEWS". The news she wishes to relay is that it's really bad when someone points out the attrocities that are being committed in our name, and we should hope they never come true.
Please read the article, and reply to her accordingly.
My response is after the leap.

Our compassionate conservative leader has a game
here for children to play and understand the horrific loss of life and the complicated reconstruction effort by having one put a fish back in the ocean and a boot in the garbage can in this wonderfully sensitive flash game.
Check it out. Then pray that there is a hell so G.W.B. can spend eternity there.
