Chumley's Back Up - Lieberman = Traitor (Update)

Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 11:38:24 AM PDT

I saw Chumley's diary about Joe Lieberman, and just wanted you to know we're talking about starting a Wiki documenting all of the treacherous actions of Connecticut's Senator.  First off: THANKS, CONNECTICUT, for allowing election laws that allowed this traitor back into the Senate Halls.

You put the "Nut" in "Nutmeg".  Do us a favor and implement a recall law instead.

EVEN AS A "NON-THREATENING NEGRO"...

Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 04:13:10 PM PDT

I haven't posted a diary in over a year here, but I thought, in light of Sen. Obama's distancing himself from the remarks of his pastor, no one's really talking about why Hillary Clinton remains such a polarizing candidate whose tactics threaten to destroy the Democratic Party, as well as pull the covers off as to whether or not the Democratic Party is all inclusive.

Read it thoroughly before making a determination about what you read.

The CBC is Officially Dead

Fri May 25, 2007 at 11:30:18 AM PDT

Yeah, I said it.  I sat on my anger for days, and with Bennie Thompson referring to liberals as it if was a dirty word, not to mention spouting off  ReThug Talking points, I find I can no longer be silent about this travesty.

For the last few years, many of us political activists have gone out of our way to make sure the Congressional Black Caucus remained relevant in the theory of political discourse.  And what do we have to show for it?

How Sincere is Don Imus Aboout Righting

Tue Apr 10, 2007 at 10:33:54 AM PDT

the wrongs he has committed?  It's not like the first time he's done this, and we Kossacks have attempted to assail him and get his ass off the air.

But now, watching the press conference of the Rutgers University Women's basketball team, there are faces, names of the individuals Imus has insulted.  And, while we're heaping this disdain for Imus, one also wonders why Bernard McGuirk (who often imitates and initiates those insensitive, bigoted comments and slurs)and Charles McCord are suddenly hiding, or as Imus himself would say, "tryin' to weasel out" of this scandal?  Does he think because he works for Imus, he's protected and that it's Imus' responsibility to take the heat?

The Evisceration of Black Officials

Thu Jul 27, 2006 at 07:03:38 AM PDT

When I first saw that Kos was running an ad for Cynthia McKinney's opponent, my first action was to stay off this blog for a few days.  Kos, you're Hollywood, now, and quit masquerading as a progressive because if you did your homework on Hank Johnson, you would know he's in the pocket of those who perpetuate toxic landfills in minority neighborhoods and he's taking money from land development interests as well as AIPAC.

I can't Support Hillary for President in 2008

Wed Jul 19, 2006 at 12:51:19 PM PDT

After giving this issue serious thought, and after reading the following, as a woman, it pains me to make this decision:

I CANNOT SUPPORT HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT IN 2008.

Diebold Is At It Again!

Tue Jul 18, 2006 at 07:31:19 AM PDT

I just received the following emails from the Cynthia McKinney campaign.  Whether or not you agree with the Congresswoman's positions, we all agree that if she wins or loses her primary, it should be done on merit and not because of a rigged Diebold voting machine casting votes for her opponent when the put the "x" mark next to her name.

Ken Lay Compared to James Byrd...Thoughts?

Thu Jul 13, 2006 at 10:25:36 AM PDT

"Ken Lay was neither black nor poor, as James Byrd was, but I'm angry because Ken was the victim of a lynching," said Lawson, who predicted that history will vindicate Lay.

First off, how dare anyone compare Ken Lay to an African-American who was a victim of the worst degree...being dragged to his death for the simple "offense" of being African-American.  For anyone to say Ken Lay was lynched in the same way as James Byrd goes beyond the pale. http://www.houstonchronicle.com

Where's the Apology?

Fri Jun 16, 2006 at 09:13:41 PM PDT

Now that the Capitol Hill Police and judicial individuals have decided not to indict Rep. Cynthia McKinney for the Capitol Hill incident with the police, where's her apology?

Where's the apology for calling her loony?

Where's the apology for racially profiling her?

Mr. Obama Goes to Washington...and becomes a Source of Frustration for Progressives

Fri Jun 09, 2006 at 06:25:15 AM PDT

I get blog updates from Progressive David Sirota all the time, and I'm glad that I do.  Sirota consistently nails the political issue; he can frame the issue and articulate what should be the positions of "progressive-liberal" appearing candidates.

Which is why his analytical interview/article on Illinois Senator Barack Obama is a must read.http://www.thenation.com/...

"Dump Rahm Emmanuel" Movement Begins

Wed Jun 07, 2006 at 06:25:16 AM PDT

For those of you who think the DLC way for Democrats to recapture Congress this Fall is the way to go, you may be interested in learning that as a result of the DLC's fumbling on Francine Busby's campaign, this failure has led to the beginnings of a "Dump Rahm Emmanuel" movement from his position as DCCC Chair.

Jefferson Has No District - Swept Away

Tue May 23, 2006 at 02:55:27 PM PDT

I had no idea that what I posted on my blog last October would be coming to fruition.  But since I'm seeing all kind of "Jefferson must Go" blogging here on Kos, I felt my DLC post of nearly eight months ago was crucial. The current corruption scandal is just adding fuel to an already smoldering fire.

What you must remember is that Hurricane Katrina pretty much tore off Jefferson's clothes and exposed him as a less than mediocre congressman who sold out his own district.  Katrina pretty much washed away Jefferson's district, and his surviving constituents are scattered across the United States.

The "MAD AS HELL" Diary

Thu May 11, 2006 at 07:37:28 AM PDT

Usually, it takes me quite awhile to get going, and even more to make me angry, depending on the issue.  But when you have hatemongers on the air waves, and they collect a pay check from Clear Channel, you might be tempted to just dismiss them out of hand, since anything they broadcast is GOP/Rethug schill.  Until today.

Calling for the rape of a four-year old child and offering $500 dollars to any fool to call into your radio show with information goes beyond the pale and that's putting it mildly.

Nancy Pelosi...An Embarassment

Mon May 08, 2006 at 08:02:43 AM PDT

As a person who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland), while Nancy Pelosi was not my representative (my rep, Barbara Lee, is better)I have to say that I've had the opportunity of watching Ms. Pelosi succeed the late Sala Burton, who had succeeded her late husband, Phil, in the same seat.

For the better part of 20 years, Pelosi did liberal and Progressive Democrats proud with her representation.  In fact, because her resemblance, physically and politically, was similar to Senator Barbara Boxer, until 2002, both women were often mistaken for one another and quite favorably.

Since Pelosi's now House Minority Leader, good God, can you tell the difference.

TDS - A Necessary Dialogue on Race

Thu Apr 06, 2006 at 08:14:47 AM PDT

No, this isn't another diary about Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and the Capitol Hill Police affair, so heave a big sigh of relief and keep reading.  This diary is more to the point of making a request of Kossacks, and hopefully, through out the blogsphere.

It's time to say this and mean it: A DIALOGUE ABOUT RACE and ORIENTATION IN AMERICA IS NECESSARY AND LONG OVERDUE, IF WE ARE TO SURVIVE AS A NATION.

The Real Truth Comes Out - Racism When it's Fashionable

Wed Apr 05, 2006 at 07:31:58 AM PDT

Ah, so now the truth comes out about some of you who post here on Daily Kos.  You're liberal when it's politically correct, but your closet racism comes flaming to the forefront, just like John Aravosis on Americablog.

Senate Candidate Supports Racist Immigration Bill

Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 09:27:09 AM PDT

Greetings dear readers.  Since this blog is devoting diaries to tracking the potential for picking up Senate seats in 2006, we may as well be aware of the policies the Senate Candidates are supporting, and take this into consideration when supporting them in assisting the Democrats to take back the Senate in the mid-year elections.

Therefore, it is dismaying to have to report that on the recent Immigration Bill, which would make immigrants of African descent felons, U. S. Senate Candidate Harold Ford, Jr., was the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus to vote in favor of its passage.
