Why does DHinMI still make banning decisions at DKos?

Mon Dec 26, 2005 at 07:50:27 PM PDT

DHinMI either just banned Bad Santa from DKos or convinced someone to ban Bad Santa from DKos. All Bad Santa did was point out the fact that the mainstream media repeated Matt Drudge reports last week nationally for 2 news cycles without fact checking the story in this thread...

Why is DHinMI still getting so much input at DKos?

Bush seeks to segregate Katrina victims from schools

Wed Sep 14, 2005 at 12:31:33 PM PDT

From thinkprogress.org...

"...SEPARATE BUT EQUAL" EDUCATION: The Wall Street Journal reports that Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings will ask Congress to waive a federal law that bans educational segregation for homeless children. The Bush administration is arguing, along with states like Utah and Texas, that providing schooling for evacuees - who, in this case, are likened to homeless children -- will be disruptive to public school systems, so they want to have sound legal backing for creating separate educational facilities for the 372,000 schoolchildren displaced by Hurricane Katrina...."

The Republicans can't pretend they aren't bigots anymore, so they have just stopped trying.

Help organize protest - Rescue the Victims

Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 12:15:42 PM PDT

It's become apparant today that the efforts of the federal government to rescue the victims of Hurricane Katrina are too late and woefully inadequate. We must protest lack of support that the victims in New Orleans are recieving. These innocent victims of a natural disaster cannot be allowed to be left to die in the ruins of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

Air America way up to #5 station in Portland OR

Mon Aug 01, 2005 at 09:01:16 AM PDT

From an afs diary at mydd.com...

"These are monsterous numbers for Air America affiliate KPOJ. KPOJ continues to rocket up the ratings to the #5 slot in the market 12+ overall.

KPOJ jumped from a 3.3 to a 4.5 share in one ratings book. KPOJ didn't just leave O'Reilly, Hannity, and Lars Larson behind. Franken, Rhodes, and Garafalo dusted Beyonce and Maroon 5. Portland's Top 40 station was left in Air America's wake, too."

Tour de France - Day 20

Sat Jul 23, 2005 at 05:57:42 AM PDT

The Final Time Trial.

Today is guaranteed to be filled with bittersweet moments. Today is Lance Armstrong's last competitive cycling race. The ride into Paris is just an opportunity to wave and smile at the fans.

There's not a whole lot to say. Lance will go out on top, not just by winning the stage, but by dominating it. If you aren't in a position to watch now, catch one of the OLN replays later in the day if you can. You'll want to file away the images for stories for your grandkids. A career worthy of classical epic poetry is about to conclude.

Tour de France - Day 19

Fri Jul 22, 2005 at 05:49:02 AM PDT

Today is the last regular stage of the Tour. Tomorrow is the time trials. Sunday's ride into Paris is more parade than race. Only the sprint specialists are still racing on Sunday. The overall contenders will take it easy today. They will be saving their strength for the time trial tomorrow.

That's means we have a bunch of riders who have no chance of placing in any of the competitions who will be trying to grab their last chance at glory in France for theis year's Tour de France.

Tour de France - Day 18

Thu Jul 21, 2005 at 06:02:51 AM PDT

I said Discovery Channel was looking to shut up it's critics yesterday. They did. Discovery Channel now has a chance to win not only yellow, but 4 of the 6 major trophies of the TdF (Yellow, White, Team, Team Time Trial). Throw in a couple of stage wins for Savoldelli and Hincapie when Discovery Channel really wasn't even trying, and it's about as dominating a performance as a team gets at the Tour de France.

Today is the rolling terrain of the Massif Cantral. At some point, Discovery Channel is going to put it in cruise control. They have proven their point. I don't know if today is the day they will relax or not. Lance only has one really competitive stage remaining... Saturday's time trial. Lance and his Discovery team may just kick back and enjoying a nice bike ride together today.

Tour de France - Day 17

Wed Jul 20, 2005 at 05:49:03 AM PDT

Loooooong and pretty flat stage today. Lance really only has one stage of racing left later in the week in the last time trial. Between now and then, it will be a case of slapping a "Handle with Care" label on Lance and just get him from place to place without breakage.

As far as today's stage goes, I think Lance and the Discovery Channel team is kinda ticked off at all the reporting about mediocre performance of the team as a whole. I think the complaining about Hincapie parking at the back of the breakaway Sunday didn't help. Look for a Discovery Channel domestique or two to try to get involved in any breakaways today to shut up the critics.

Tour de France - Day 16

Tue Jul 19, 2005 at 05:27:30 AM PDT

Yesterday was a rest day. Today's stage is the last chance for any climbing specialists to gain time on Armstrong and the other overall classification leaders. Today could also be a good opportunity for Rasmussen to try to gain some time on Ullrich to try to finish on the podium in Paris.

Tour de France - Day 15

Sun Jul 17, 2005 at 05:19:03 AM PDT

The Queen stage. The big stage. The toughest stage. However you want to refer to it, today's stage of the Tour de France will be the toughest and the most important in determining who will be standing on top of the podium in yellow in Paris.

Lance Armstrong extended his lead of the overall classification yesterday. Lance is riding well. The same thing can't really be said for his teammates. Lance got caught alone by the rest of his rivals. Lance not only held them off, but improved his position. Can Lance continue to hold off the field with mediocre performance by the rest of the Discovery Channel team?

Tour de France - Day 14

Sat Jul 16, 2005 at 06:04:38 AM PDT

Back to the Mountains. This time, we're in the Pyrenees. Lance Armstrong is leading, and he is strongest in the mountains. There could be a problem for the Discovery Channel team with the loss of Manuel Beltran, a mountain specialist. Someone else on the team will have to step up and fill in for the great job he was doing setting pace early in mountain stages. Lance will also have to keep his eye on Michael Rassmussen. Rassmussen must make any move he's going to make in the next two days. He's not a good time-trialist. If Rassmussen wants to challenge Armstrong for yellow, he will have to try to do so this weekend.

Tour de France - Day 13

Fri Jul 15, 2005 at 05:48:00 AM PDT

Are you enjoying your breakfast? Are you through with that pancake? Gimme.

See this guys pancake here. The course is that flat. Today is a textbook sprinter's stage. There will be no challenge to Lance's possession of the yellow jersey today.

Want your pancake back?

Tour de France - Day 12

Thu Jul 14, 2005 at 05:58:03 AM PDT

Happy Bastille Day! I'll be celebrating by watching the Tour de France. If you happen to be storming any prisons, do a little storming for me.

Lance is in yellow. The stage is a hilly one, but no hard core killer climbs. Today should be a rest day for the overall category contenders. Look for a whole lot of attacking by French riders. Look for the rest of the field to mostly get out of their way and recover from two tough days of climbing.

"Back on ice: NHL and the union reach a deal in principle to end lockout
By IRA PODELL, AP Sports Writer
July 13, 2005

NEW YORK (AP) -- The NHL and the players' association reached an agreement in principle Wednesday on a six-year labor deal, ending a lockout that wiped out last season.

The sides met for 24 hours starting Tuesday afternoon to hammer out the collective bargaining agreement that will return the NHL to the ice on time in the fall. In February, commissioner Gary Bettman canceled the season, making the NHL the first North American sports league to lose a year because of a labor dispute.

Tour de France - Day 11

Wed Jul 13, 2005 at 05:25:21 AM PDT

Some people were concerned about Discovery Channel's performance early in the Tour. Some people were wondering if Lance would be able to withstand multiple attacks solo. Some people were wondering if the multiple skilled climbers of CSC would finally end Lance Armstrong reign of the Tour de France.

Some people are idiots.

Discovery Channel floored it yesterday and took the field of overall Tour title contenders to the edge of their endurance. When the contenders began to falter, Lance found a monster truck gear that none of his other overall title rivals have and then crushed the field with it. It wasn't like watching a race. It was like watching that stolen tank cruising around the streets of San Diego... and Jan Ullrich was the Winnebago. SMUUUUSH.

Tour de France - Day 10

Tue Jul 12, 2005 at 05:37:20 AM PDT

CHARGE!... or something like that. Big Hills. Alp Big Hills. Leaderboard chaos. Everyone, everyone's brother, everyone's brother-in-law, and everyone's brother's cable guy will be attacking today, and attacking hard. Lance is more than 2 minutes back starting the day.

Tour de France - Day 9

Sun Jul 10, 2005 at 05:33:37 AM PDT

Today is the first big climbing day on the tour. Lance Armstrong looked great entering these climbs, but the same couldn't be said for his Discovery Channel teammates. They left Lance alone and forced him to deal with attack after attack without support.
