Help John Kerry stop a war

Thu Jan 25, 2007 at 09:51:30 AM PDT

In case you don't want to take the time to watch the video, here's a link to his words in writing:

http://www.setadeadline.com/...

Or, if you'd like the reader's digest version, the meat if you will, here ya go:

"I believe that a Congress that shares responsibility for getting us into this war must bear responsibility for getting us out."

"Above all else, the mission we must all join is to end the war in Iraq."

"I hope you will come to www.setadeadline.com and take the opportunity to speak out on the importance of setting a deadline to redeploy our troops and bring our heroes home. Speak out at www.setadeadline.com."

He says he will be introducing legislation for redeployment of the troops.

He also says thank you, btw, especially if you've been a member of the online community.

More after the break.

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry may have trouble telling jokes, but he knows how to get down to serious business.

Kerry writes a letter -- No Permanent Bases in Iraq

Wed Feb 08, 2006 at 04:33:05 PM PDT

I got this from a Kerry supporter over at DU. Didn't stop to ask where he got it from. When I get a link (if there is one) I'll update my diary. Until then, I thought this was good. On edit: The link http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Kerry_wants_public_statement_there_will_0208.html

Dems angry with Kerry re. failed filibuster

Tue Jan 31, 2006 at 04:02:53 PM PDT

Ugh, I swear the Dems are afraid to do anything. Sort of like a prevent defense in football. Only all a prevent defense does is prevent victory.

Story after fold.

NYT: Kerry Urges Alito Filibuster, but His Reception Is Cool

Thu Jan 26, 2006 at 10:04:16 PM PDT

What kind of partisan hack IS David Kirkpatrick, anyway. What the hell? Is this supposed to be a news report or a commentary. Geez louise. I'm so pissed.

The reason why, after the fold.

Kerry in Israel; Kerry on Blitzer supporting Gore and Hillary

Tue Jan 17, 2006 at 08:03:50 PM PDT

Nice to see a bit of unity. Gore on the attack. Hillary on the attack. Kerry supporting both.

It's a good day.

Kerry: Action, not photo ops!

From "Democratic Daily"

John Kerry: Bush Administration Owes New Orleans Economic Action, Not Photo Ops
January 12th, 2006

Bush is on a photo op tour as a part "of a series of events to showcase his priorities leading up to the State of the Union address." Today's stop was a visit to the "still-ravaged Gulf Coast Thursday after three months away." Bush said today that he "was committed to rebuilding communities devastated from Hurricane Katrina." But if that is the case, why has not been back there more often and what is taking so long for the economic action neccessary to rebuild the Gulf Coast? Bush's visit today followed a meeting of angry residents in New Orleans over the proposed Katrina Recovery Plan.

My encounter with a freeper over Teddy plus Kerry news

Wed Jan 11, 2006 at 06:09:54 PM PDT

'Cause I'm Kerrycrat after all. Kerry news will be at the end for those who wanna just skip to it.

But I wanted to start with a freeper encounter I had yesterday about Teddy Kennedy. He must have struck a nerve, God bless him.

Kerry leaves for 12-day trip to Mideast, Asia and Europe

Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 07:25:20 PM PDT

Here is an article I found through the Democratic Daily and Kerrygoddess' posting over at Democratic Undergroud that I thought I'd share with y'all, or at least those who care where Kerry will be for the next 12 days.

Looks like one hell of an ambitious schedule. This will be his third trip to Iraq by my reckoning. He came back from the second one with a plan to withdraw, albeit one that people thought wasn't ambitious enough.

Says Kerrygoddess:
http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.com/...

John Kerry was last in Iraq during Hurricane Katrina. Kerry has a full agenda, that includes issues that are important to him, including AIDS. At an October U2 concert in Boston, which Kerry attended, Bono saluted Kerry for bringing the AIDS issue to the forefront in Washington, D.C..

"I also want to salute someone (else).. without him we would not see the AIDS emergency taken seriously in Washington DC - John Kerry!"

Godspeed, Senator. I pray that you have a safe journey.

John Nixon

Wed Dec 14, 2005 at 08:00:00 PM PDT

This was John Nixon.

He never wrote a children's book.

No celebrities visited him.

He doesn't seem to have claimed to have been rehabilitated, just innocent.

He died today at 6:25 pm at the Mississippi State Pen.

I realize of course that the rallying cry "Save Nixon" might not have gone down with some people, but still, where is the uproar for this guy?

Kerry and Dean: Framing vs Just telling the damn truth

Tue Dec 06, 2005 at 07:47:23 PM PDT

A local pundit paired these two quotes, so I will too.

"The idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong."

-- DNC Chairman Howard Dean, in an interview with WOAI Radio in San Antonio, TX.

"And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the-of-the historical customs, religious customs."

-- Sen. John Kerry, on Face the Nation.

Kerry on Ed Schultz and the Today Show, plus other stuff

Thu Dec 01, 2005 at 06:04:18 PM PDT

Here's a link to listen to Kerry's interview on Ed Schultz today:

http://www.thedemocraticdaily.com/...

He stopped by to talk about the military paying for planted news stories in Iraq.

Seen also today at the signing of the bill to give Rosa Parks a statue at the Capitol. He was one of the co-sponsors of the bill, along with Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.

Would Reed have gotten soundbite of the day from Ed Schultz?

Wed Nov 30, 2005 at 07:25:56 PM PDT

For his comment about how Bush was setting up strawmen?

Would I have heard Sen. Reed, a much lesser known voice, on the radio news this afternoon the way I heard Sen. Kerry's?

He was coherent enough to get a soundbite on the news. He was coherent enough for Ed Schultz to pull a quote and call it "soundbite of the day"

Timewarp: Kerry welcomes Howard Dean as Chairman

http://www.johnkerry.com/...

At this point, who gives a flying fuck who out maneuvered who.

Do ya think we could talk some unity here, people. Once in a bloody while.

Pleeeease?

It would benefit Dean AND the Dems, ya know?

On edit: In reference to:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/11/29/15457/355

Specifically:

We're now at the rough one-year anniversary of the DNC chairmanship battle, in which us netroots hooligans helped propel Dean to the top of the DNC. We outmaneuvered Kerry, who wanted to install Vilsack and then Sheehan by fiat. We outmaneuvered Reid and Pelosi, who wanted Tim Roemer. We outmaneuvered Mark Brewer of the Association of Democratic State Chairs, who wanted to Donnie Fowler
