Back in the 1990s I researched maquiladoras in Mexico, and learned such companies as Fisher Price, Hasbro, and Mattel were using sweatshop labor there, so with the Season of Joy upon us, I became curious about who makes most of the toys now. I am pissed that Democrats don't adequately address the issues of poverty, or the REALITY that HELL-FUCKING-O, not everyone is going to Harvard even under the best educational system. Not even if we were to radically change our priorities.

Jesus Tried To Stab Me With A Knife

Thu Jun 16, 2005 at 09:25:06 AM PDT

Reports of rape occur at the rate of 78 per hour nationally, which averages out to 1,872 a day, 56,160 a month, 673,920 a year. In 82% of documented cases, victims were raped by someone they knew. It is estimated that only 16% of rapes are reported. 1 out of 3 women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime.

Every year at least 1 million women suffer nonfatal violence by an intimate. By less conservative estimates, 4 million American women experience serious assault by an intimate partner during an average 12-month period.

For men, these are abstract statistics. For women, these numbers quantify the reality of our experiences.
