Daily Kos

I am a 33 year old woman back in CT. I play in C&J whenever I can. I am so happy that I found this community of snarky, smart and informative people. I love this community, meta and all.

CT-04 CT-01: A Candidate Diary that doesn't include BHO or HRC!!

Jim Himes is running for CT CD4. He is running against the Republican representative left in CT, Chris Shays. Most recently Chris Shays proclaimed that the baseball steroid problem was "the worst he'd ever seen." He was in Congress during the Clinton witch hunts, but those were not as terrible as men who play child's game and get paid for it. Chris Shays has also fawned over Eric Prince in his testimony before Congress.

Netroots vs them

I have been actively blogging here at Dkos for the past three years. I know that the community of blogoshphere is where I reach out to, for ideas, real news and intelligent discourse. I want to get a YDA chapter running in my town. Apparently there have been two people that tried to start one, ran a couple of happy hours and over the past two months let it die. I think that the concept of YDA is wonderful. Getting young people involved in local politics. I believe that having young people in office and actually caring about what will happen is the only way to ensure that the overton window never goes back to where towns are actually discussing whether not creationism is science. I know that within the blogoshpere that discussion will not happen. Darksyde would blind you with science. At any rate, I reached out to the CT liberal blog site, My Left Nutmeg, and I am apparently an embarrassment.

A personal loss

About 12 years ago I was a worker in a day care. I used to run the after school program. There was this boy, one blue eye and one brown eye that would cause trouble in school. He and I met and sized each other up. He didn't pull the crap with me that he pulled in school. (His mother recently told me I was Philip's first crush) I was the only teacher that Philip would listen to. I stayed at the day care for a few more years and I saw Philip go off to middle school. I occasionally ran into his Mom and Dad, and I would get updates on Philip. Last summer Philip signed up for the Marine Corp. Considering how I feel about this war and this administration, I asked Philip if it was the best idea to sign up now.
