Newsweek poll explores anti-Obama Racism
Sat May 24, 2008 at 04:18:19 PM PDT
Newsweek has published the details of a new poll examining white, anti-Black resentment. According to Newsweek,
...participants were asked to answer questions on a variety of race-related topics including racial preferences, interracial marriage, attitudes toward social welfare and general attitudes toward African-Americans. Respondents were grouped according to their answers on a "Racial Resentment Index".
The article reporting the poll findings goes on to suggest that these poll results may pose problems for Obama in November, but, more importantly, that Obama's candidacy has greatly increased the degree to which Americans now believe the country is 'ready' for an African-American president:
In 2000, only 37 percent of voters thought the country was ready for a black president. Now, 70 percent of voters think a black candidate like Obama could win the White House.
Did Huckabee's Son Torture a Dog to Death?
Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 08:49:15 AM PDT
This is....disturbing to say the least. Hat tips to crooks-and-liars and Digby
From Fox News
In 1998, David Huckabee was among two boys fired from a Boy Scout camp after a stray dog was killed after wandering onto camp property. David Huckabee, 17 at the time, said the dog appeared ill; no charges were filed. The elder Huckabee said then that politics was behind the dog-killing accusation.
But, as Digby digs up, there is more to this story than a simple 'dog killing'....
Military Overwhelmingly Supports Anti-War Candidate
Tue Jul 17, 2007 at 11:14:51 AM PDT
My previous diary on Ron Paul pointed out that recent campaign finance disclosures indicated that the Texas Congressman had more cash on hand at present than the tanking McCain campaign.
Well, more interesting bits of data have been dug up that suggests that, among the GOP candidates, the military overwhelmingly supports the anti-war candidate.
Does Ron Paul = GOP Ralph Nader?

Via ABC News 'Political Radar'
BC News' George Stephanopoulos Reports: Though often regarded as a longshot candidate for president, Republican Ron Paul tells ABC News that he has an impressive $2.4 million in cash on hand after raising an equal amount during the second quarter, putting him ahead of one-time Republican frontrunner John McCain, who reported this week he has only $2 million in the bank.

Andrew Sullivan Uses The 'E'(vil) Word
Fri Mar 09, 2007 at 11:02:27 AM PDT
Those Kossacks who keep tabs on Andrew Sullivan will not doubt have seen his recent post the US attorney general scandal and, of course, his ongoing confrontation with Bush conservatives over torture. However, Sully has finally gone all the way in his analysis of the Bush administration. He is now, for all intents and purposes, one of us now. Money quote:
CIA Big Wig: Facts WERE Fixed Around the Policy
Wed Jan 31, 2007 at 08:53:02 PM PDT
Former chief of the CIA's Europe division, Tyler Drumheller, tells Der Spiegal magazine (http://www.spiegel.de/international/spiegel/0,1518,462782,00.html) that the White House simply ignored CIA warnings that 'Curveball' was not to be trusted. Not news as such, but just another reminder of the lies that have led to the death of countless Iraqis and nearly 3,100 American service members.

965 Comment Diary - The Larry Craig Outing - Update
Wed Oct 18, 2006 at 06:49:30 AM PDT
My diary yesterday
regarding the outing of Republican Senator Larry Craig by gay activist Mike Rogers simply exploded my mind. It swiftly shot onto the reccommended list and, at last count, some 966 comments had been posted.
First, the details. Craig is alleged to have had sex with men in Union Station in DC, and Rogers claims his sources are the men who had sex with Craig. How credible is Rogers? At the moment very. He was well ahead of the Foley scandal, and he has identified other Republican closet cases such as Ken Mehlman and Davied Drier along with other GOP apparatchiks at the staff level including, amazingly enough, a staffer of Rick, man-on-dog, Santorum. You can check this all out at Rogers' blog.
Sen. Larry Craig (R) of Idaho Outed by Mike Rogers on Ed Schultz
Tue Oct 17, 2006 at 02:43:57 PM PDT
Mike Rogers, the famous (or infamous) gay activist who outs closeted Republican homosexuals, is reporting that on Ed Schultz RIGHT NOW that Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho is homosexual. Says he is prepared for 'legal' consequences. Rogers has reported on Drier, Shrock, and Foley, never been proven wrong. Reporting he will go to jail to protect sources, and also reporting that he has received NO RESPONSE from Craig's office. Says his sources are men Craig has had sex with.
