Hope to see some of you today in Philadelphia at Independence Mall at a rally in support of John Nirenberg, the Impeachment Marcher. This is a man who walks the walk. In fact, he's been walking since December 1st, and he doesn't plan to stop until he arrives at Nancy Pelosi's office.
Rally in Support of "March in My Name" John Nirenberg Date: Sunday Dec. 30
Time: 1pm - 3pm
Location: Philadelphia - Outside Independence Hall
Rally in Support of "March in My Name" John Nirenberg Date: Sunday Dec. 30

John Nirenberg is marching from Boston to Nancy Pelosi's office in DC to encourage her to put impeachment "back on the table." He's been on the march since December 1st and tomorrow he'll arrive at Independence Hall in Philadelphia where a rally will be held. John says in his blog that what keeps him going is the support he gets from people. I've been following his progress, and frankly, I'm disappointed that he hasn't had more people coming out to meet him and join him. I hope that tomorrow's rally will be well attended. There is support from DFA and NJ Impeachment groups, so hopefully there will be a good turn out.

Gen. David H. Petraeus, commanding general, Multi-National Force, and Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker discuss the details of their report on the military and political situation in Iraq. They testify before a joint hearing of the House Armed Services Cmte. and the House Foreign Affairs Cmte.
Ryan C. Crocker, United States Ambassador to Iraq
Gen. David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force - Iraq
The hearing is being streamed via C-Span3 and MSNBC and CNN (follow link).
The hearing has adjourned, so we can use this diary as a wrap up.
Note: The hearing is being rebroadcast right now, also on C-SPAN3. They started it again right after it ended.
The is debating the Levin-Reed Amendment to the defense appropriations bill which requires redeployment of troops out of Iraq within 120 days of enactment.
Reed is "Jack Reed" of Rhode Island a Democrat and Levin is "Carl Levin" of Illinios also as it happens is a Democrat. Worth noting as it is the Republicans who refuse to budge on our troop deployments.
The Republicans are filibustering and Harry Reid says that they have to actually debate in this filibuster rather than simply voting on cloture to quash the effort to get an up or down simple majority vote.
So thirty hours of debate is the order of the day, night and day again.
Alternatively, you may phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request.
Starting shortly on C-SPAN3. (Seems it's running late). You can stream using this link:

We can use this diary for starters. When we reach around 300 comments or so, hopefully someone else will post a continuation diary, unrecommend this one and link to previous diaries.

Who authorized using our military "as part of an aggressive new strategy to weaken Tehran's influence across the Middle East and compel it to give up its nuclear program"?
Here are some of this morning's headlines about Bush's war with Iran:
[UPDATE 3 (full update is below)]
Bush gives a different story to reporters today:
"We believe we can solve our problems with Iran diplomatically and are working to do so," Bush said in a brief question-and-answer session with reporters in the Oval Office.
Today, Bill Clinton came to Valley Forge Military Academy to rally for Joe Sestak, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania's 7th district.
If you don't know Joe, he's an excellent candidate, a retired Vice Admiral in the U.S. Navy, running against the 18 year incumbent, Curt Weldon.
Clinton spent the early afternoon making this appearance with Joe, and giving an incredibly good speech like only Bill Clinton can.
I was lucky enough to attend, took pictures, taped the speeches, and I'd love to share them with you.
The event and Clinton's speech were so rich with content that I'm afraid that one diary won't cover it.
I transcribed some of the best quotes and prepped pictures but I plan to transcribe the whole speech if I can over the next day or two and I'll post more when I've got it.
For now, here are some visuals and quotes that should give you a good sense of how things were in PA-07 today.
The NFL, gas prices and dinosaurs - what do they have in common? All three have been utilitized recently by Democrats running for Congress for creative campaigning and smart, "new generation" type politicking that is going to win elections in November and help us take back the majority.
Republicans haven't shown us this type of creativity. As with everything else, what we see from them is more of the same. But the Democrats are demonstrating how to think outside the box, make changes and work smarter.
A bit of creative campaigning makes a big difference, and it's refreshing. Join me for a diary about Joe Sestak's campaign event this weekend, "A Jurassic Park Experience," which was a great example of thinking outside the box with new and different campaign events.
Today the Senate voted for cloture to end debate on proposed changes to the PATRIOT Act.
The final vote for the renewal of the PATRIOT Act itself (with the changes S. 2271, by Sen. Sununu, et al) is scheduled for tomorrow (Weds. 3/1/06) at 10 am.
Patriot Act Renewal Clears Final Hurdle
The Senate voted 69-30 to limit debate and bring the bill up for a vote, exceeding a required 60-vote threshold. The Senate could pass the final measure as soon as Wednesday. The House then would vote and send the legislation to the White House.
President Bush must sign the measure into law before 16 major provisions expire March 10.
I refuse to let Republican shills tell me how I should feel, what I should believe, who I should trust and what I should think. I refuse to submit to the GOP guilt trip that is, at this very moment, being thrown upon the American people.
No, no and NO. Do you hear me Senator Warner? Do you hear me Senator McCain? Do you hear me President Bush? Do you hear me Mr. Hadley? NO. You may not tell me how to feel. You may not tell me what to think. You may not tell me what is right and what is wrong. You may not require that I trust your judgements and your opinions. You lost that trust long ago. Give me one good reason why I should trust you. {crickets chirping}
