Offensive Humor and the Candidates (please add more)
Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 04:15:37 PM PDT
I am a fan of funny. However, sadly, the things I find funny are often funny to me because they are so blatantly offensive that I can not believe I am actually hearing them. (I'm a big fan of South Park, Stangers with Candy, and many other shows that had or have no business being watched in mixed company.
That being said, I am posting what I found to be the most offensive, yet humorous (to me at least) things I have found being said about the candidates.
For the easily offended, don't bother to go below the fold....
It only takes one Senator to end this war.
Fri Sep 14, 2007 at 04:34:17 PM PDT
For all the "escalating" dialog between Obama, Hillary, Edwards, Dodd, and their ilk, not one of them has done anything to end the war, and each fo them are very careful not to mention a very simple fact which Kucinich keeps throwing in their face.
All the talk of "not having the votes", needing a "veto-proof" majority, and attempting to craft an acceptable "compromise" is just crap.
It only takes one Senator to stop this war.

What about the Subpoena Battle?
Mon Aug 27, 2007 at 11:21:47 AM PDT
So Gonzo is Gonzo. This move can hardly come as a shock to anyone (at least not if your reading this here.) My question is how will this effect the battle between the White House and Congress over the failure of witnesses to appear when subpoenaed, or the White House failure to turn over various documents (including the "missing" e-mails, documents relating to the U.S. Attorney firings, documents relating to Hatch Act Violations by Karl Rove's office, documents relating to "Energy policy" meetings with Oil Company execs., documents relating to illegal racial profiling prior to the 2004 election in Florida, etc....) How will Alberto Gonzalez's resignation effect these battles? Sadly, I don't think the issue will even come up in the analysis of his resignation.

Have the Bloggers taken over the White House?
Tue Nov 15, 2005 at 04:27:19 PM PDT
We have truly entered a new millenium in the digital age. The "old media" of newspapers, once the trusted source for information in this country has suffered a great blow in the last week, and my head is still reeling.
The White House now has employees who issue apparently a series of articles in hopes of Setting the Record Straight.
Besides the obvious factual discrepancies and lack of journalistic integrity in these "posts" to the White House website, I have much larger concerns.
How's the Iraqi Troop Training going Casey?
Thu Sep 29, 2005 at 04:28:48 PM PDT
According to
General George Casey training of Iraqi troops is going great.
"Have we lost ground? Definitely not."
That is unless your count involves numbers. In June Casey proudly told Congress that Three Batallions of Iraqi troops were fully trained and able to function without U.S. military supervision.
Today it was this:
Gen. George Casey, softening his previous comments that a "fairly substantial" pullout could begin next spring and summer, told lawmakers that troops might begin coming home from Iraq next year depending on conditions during and after the upcoming elections there.
On Thursday, Casey said only one battalion is ready.
"It doesn't feel like progress," said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine
I kind of expected progress to feel a little different myself.

According to the Weatherman for KPVI-TV in Pocatello, Idaho, the Hurricanes this year are not the fault of G.W. Bush. This guy really thinks outside the box, and forgets to come back in when it starts raining (a common problem for T.V. Weatherman apparently).
Scott Stevens is a follower of Tom Bearden, who believes there are two types of people, those who talk about the weather, and those who lease interstellar machines from the KGB to control it.
The whole theory takes 60 pages, which is more than I could ingest at once, but there is a summary below the fold.
Unexplained propaganda & Unnamed Iraqi's
Tue Jul 26, 2005 at 02:08:46 PM PDT
The U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Division's Task Force Baghdad is releasing statements to the media, which is good because it is pretty damn dangerous for reporters to go get their own statements from on the street Iraqi's.
The only problem is, the Task Force apparently has the journalistic ethics of Jason Blair and Robert Novac combined. Or possibly their "unnamed Iraqi" just keeps repeating the talking points over and over.

It's not Rummy fault
Thu Jun 23, 2005 at 12:30:47 PM PDT
In today's Armed Services committee meeting Sen. Kendey once again asked Donald Rumsfield to resign his position as the Secretary of Defence.
Now we all no the outrage that must have been expressed by Rumfield over questioning his authority or his ability to perform. Right, well...
from
CNN:
Citing what he called repeated "gross errors and mistakes" in the U.S. military campaign in Iraq, Kennedy told Rumsfeld: "In baseball, it's three strikes, you're out. What is it for the secretary of defense?"
"Isn't it time for you to resign?" Kennedy asked.
"I've offered my resignation to the president twice," Rumsfeld shot back, saying that President Bush had decided not to accept it. "That's his call," he said.
Texas Teen gets 40 years for "consentual fetal murder"
Tue Jun 07, 2005 at 04:15:33 PM PDT
A 19-year old in Texas was convicted of "Fetal Murder" and was automatically scentenced to 40 years in Texas prison.
Nineteen-year-old Gerardo Flores of Lufkin was sentenced to life in prison Monday in a landmark test case of a state fetal protection law. An Angelina County jury deliberated just under four hours, finding him guilty on two counts of capital murder for his part in killing his unborn twins.
Basoria [his girlfriend], then 16, was five months pregnant when Flores stepped on her bulging belly more than once the week before she gave birth prematurely in a bathroom at Flores' house the night of May 6, 2004. The defense said she hit herself at the same time, making it impossible to tell who killed the babies. Testimony alleged both may have wanted a miscarriage so the babies wouldn't infringe on college and social plans.
His girlfriend coerced him into it, Flores said in a taped police interview played at trial in which he demonstrated stepping on her. Bauereiss repeated the clip for jurors during his emotional closing statement.

Baghdad under siege....Shock & Awe II
Thu May 26, 2005 at 12:26:17 PM PDT
According to
Reuters 50,000 troops (10,000 American) will be used to effectively close Baghdad. They are setting up roadblocks, closing all roads in and out of the city, and (I kid you not this is the word used in the Reuters story) go "hunting" for insergents.
Defense Minister Sadoun al-Dulaimi said 40,000 Iraqi troops would be deployed in Baghdad for Operation Thunder, the biggest Iraqi military operation since the fall of
Saddam Hussein. Backed by the 10,000 U.S. troops in Baghdad, they will set up hundreds of checkpoints and block roads into the capital.
The dramatic rise in suicide bombings and ambushes by mostly Sunni Arab guerrillas has killed more than 600 Iraqis in the last four weeks and raised fears that Iraq could slide toward civil war if the Shi'ite-led government does not deliver on pledges of stability.
U.S. includes extortion in new U.N. reforms.
Fri May 20, 2005 at 04:05:47 PM PDT
According to
the Guardian the U.S. House is doing Bolton's job for him.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The United Nations on Friday warned that a proposed congressional bill linking U.N. reform with tens of millions of dollars in U.S. dues would be ``counterproductive,'' especially as Secretary-General Kofi Annan pursues his own agenda to revamp the world body.
On Thursday, the House International Relations Committee distributed an early version of the ``United Nations Reform Act of 2005.'' It seeks to cut funding for programs seen as useless and bar human rights violators from serving on U.N. human rights bodies...
.... One of its most controversial proposals is linking dues to the changes it spells out. The document stipulates that if those reforms are not carried out, Congress will withhold 50 percent of U.S. dues to the U.N. general budget, taking the money from programs it deems inefficient and wasteful."

Privitising Koran Desecration
Fri May 20, 2005 at 04:32:32 AM PDT
Remember how those Newsweek guys (not any individual reporter or editor but the magazine as a whole mind you) lied about our military desecrating the Koran. Okay, well at least you remember the White House trying to imply that they lied about the desecration, and complained about anonymous sources because they didn't know who to blame for the leak.
Apparently, some of the wingnuts got the message wrong. Koran desecration is not an accepted policy of the U.S.(yet)
Azza Basarudin, 30, said she received the Quran by mail on May 5 after ordering it through a used books division of Amazon.com that allows customers to order directly from third-party sellers approved by the company.
When she opened the Quaran, Basarudin said she found profanity and the phrase "Death to all Muslims" written in thick black marker on the otherwise-blank first page.

A Megachurch defeats the purpose
Mon May 09, 2005 at 10:29:33 AM PDT
As none of the organized religions share my personal beliefs, I currently do not attend a church. In my youth, I was much less self conscious about my hypocracy, and used to regularly attend whatever church in my area had the best "Sunday School" or "Youth Group." I learned to snorkel, waterski, went camping, and many other activities with Church groups. The youth sports leagues for basketball and volleyball did not exist outside of the school districts until the local churches started them. These things really benefited my local community.
These programs tought community involvement, charitable giving, offered informal counseling to teens, and gave my parents some peace of mind that I couldn't get into too much trouble if the group was meeting on Church property (and at very least they knew where I was).
While I'm not too crazy about any particular religion, I support my local churches, and appreciate all the social programs they offer.
This is why I hate the idea of a MegaChurch.

Remeber that Kid from Kevin Sites Blog?
Thu May 05, 2005 at 01:02:40 PM PDT
The one who created all the international uproar when he killed the unarmed wounded Iraqi in the Mosque.
He was cleared of all charges.
I do feel some empathy for the poor kid, but the ruling didn't really need to state that this tragic event "was consistent with the established rules of engagement and the law of armed conflict."
Journalists, the new terrorists
Thu May 05, 2005 at 12:54:43 PM PDT
If you thought Abu Ghraid was just for insurgents, think again.
The U.S. Military is currently rounding up Journalists including those from such subversive groups as Rueters and CBS and holding them at Abu Ghraid.
This link only reports on nine, the military acknowledges seven. How many others are there?

Do the Dem's really want to win in '08?
Tue May 03, 2005 at 06:40:53 PM PDT
The next president will be faced with an incredible job of cleaning up the mess that is our foriegn relations, and a whole new state department won't be enough.
Further, the financial ruin that is the American economy is not "hitting a soft patch" as I've currently heard it described. It is about to have it's outstanding debt called in.
These problems are not insurmountable, but they will require more bi-partisian support to fix than will be available to the next administration due to the current polarizing of the populus which is encouraged through such tactics as re-nominating 7 judges and demanding your party stand behind them.
The divisions which exist in Congress between the parties will not be healed in the next six years.
The next President, as I see it, will simply be the fall guy for all the failed policy moves of the last four years, and not much will be accomplished. (more drivel after fold)
Immigration and Social Security
Fri Apr 22, 2005 at 11:56:00 AM PDT
Okay, it's just a quick one, but if the problem with Social Security is that we only have 3.3 workers per beneficiary, and that will dwindle to 1.6 workers in a few years, why don't we look to increase the workforce?
There are thousands of people willing to come join the American Workforce to help shore up this problem, and it seems that we are doing are best to ensure that they are kept off the books, rather than trying to balance the books with them.
If population aging is the problem, why not try to change the demographics of the population as a small part of the solution?
Private Accounts: a higher rate of return?
Fri Mar 11, 2005 at 03:00:45 PM PDT
Perhaps it's time to start asking Republicans about the expected rate of return on our Social Security funds which will be invested in the Stock Market.
Senator Bill Frist is out there pushing for privitising Social Security in the hopes that this will help the stock market. Isn't this a grievous conflict of interest.
According to the Washington Post last December, Frist's campaign fund defaulted on a loan due to stock market volitity.
A campaign fund controlled by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) has lost almost $460,000 in stock market investments since 2000 and now does not have enough to cover a sizable bank loan, according to federal election records and the manager of the Frist account.
