50 permanent bases in Iraq/Bush set to declare victory
Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 06:19:50 AM PDT
If this has already been blogged I apologize. I just read today that the Bush/Cheney are trying to force the Iraqi government to sign a security arrangement that allows the United States to maintain possession of 50 permanent bases in Iraq. Another part of the deal grants immunity to US forces and contractors from prosecution. According to the British Independent:
Nukes on the way to the Mideast???
Tue Oct 09, 2007 at 11:50:27 AM PDT
Folks, I'm goint to keep this short and sweet. I just read an article that stated that some "low yeild nukes" were discovered headed for a staging area in the Middle East.
"A retired lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserve who served with the Navy's Supervisor of Salvage questioned in a little-noticed editorial Sunday why six active nuclear armed cruise missiles were being transferred to an active bomber base that "just happens to be the staging area for Middle Eastern operations."
WTF?? Dems pushing through secret trade deals!?!
Fri Sep 07, 2007 at 09:18:23 AM PDT
I just picked this link up off another web site. I can't attest for its accuracy but but I'm placing it here for confirmation or denial.
Apparently the democratic "leadership" headed by Charles Rangel (D-NY) is trying to ram secret Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Columbia, Panama, South Korea and Peru, through congress. Some of the trade agreements are apparently benign (then whey are they secret?) but the one with Panama caught someones attention.
Economist and investment/globalization specialist Peter Riggs of the Tax Justice Network, which describes itself as an outfit devoted to "combating tax evasion by corporations and the rich", took a good long look at the Panama trade deal. After noting that the Panama and Peru deals have been considered "relatively non-controversial and will probably pass", he explains that the deal with Panama has nothing to do with trade

What Happens if We Hit Iran
Sun Sep 02, 2007 at 09:52:23 AM PDT
For some reason, I can't post a comment under the thread that discusses we are about to hit Iran, so I'm doing this diary to examine some of the possible "fallout" (and I hope I'm speaking figuratively here) of the psycho twins bombing Iran.
Goldman Sachs understands national security
Tue Jul 24, 2007 at 09:52:01 AM PDT
I just found this article on a Market Watch. It's author,Mr. Paul Farrell, who works at Goldman Sachs discusses an often assumed though infrequently mentioned fact that the United States national security is very dependent on sound fiscal policy. The link to the story is below

Is this Bush's offical claim of dictatorship?
Fri Jul 20, 2007 at 07:30:53 AM PDT
I’m not a rocket scientist but two things recently came to my attention that when taken together, appear to paint an ominous picture of what we can expect in the next 18 months of Bush’s Imperial Presidency.
Remembering the fallen
Mon May 28, 2007 at 09:50:06 AM PDT
I am sitting here trying to think what to write. I honestly don't know if any words can ever be written that will adequately honor these men and women for their sacrifice.
To discuss why they had to die or to place the names of those responsible in the same post, to me, would soil the names of the dead.
All I can say is that these men and women exceed me. Honor them in your heart.
Pharmaceutical Industry buys US Senate (again)
Tue May 08, 2007 at 07:35:13 AM PDT
Yesterday Democratic and Independent Senators attempted to pass legislation that would have allowed consumers to buy prescription drugs from other countries cheaper than here.
Mr. Reid and Ms. Pelosi-please send the same bill back to Bush!
Wed May 02, 2007 at 01:21:32 PM PDT
Tell me if I got this straight. The democrats finally get the balls to put a timetable on withdrawing troops from Bush's war, Bush vetos the bill and now the democrats want to talk about replacement language?!?! Am I missing something here?
Car bomb deaths don't count when evaluating "surge" results
Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 09:53:00 AM PDT
This is going to be short and sweet and if its already been blogged, I apologize. According to a McClatchy new article Team Bush has redefined the meaning of success in Iraq (again) by not counting car bomb victims when assessing the results of the Bush "surge" plan.
Conservative call for impeachment investigation
Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 06:43:16 AM PDT
Conservative Voice writer Chuck Balwin has called for an investigation to see if George W. Bush should be impeached.
Gay Male Prostitute invited to CPAC

A US Marine invited to CPAC is in actuality a gay porn actor and male prostitute.
Should Bush be impeached?
Wed Nov 15, 2006 at 07:25:17 AM PDT
If this issue has already been brought up I apologize, but it's probably worth bringing up again.
A lot has been said about impeaching our King...er...President but there are a few things that we should consider before we raise a collective cry for Bush's head.
First, I agree completely that Bush and Cheney should be impeached for getting us into an unecessary war, warrantless spying and his "we don't torture" torture policies that have, amoung other things, made this the most abusive Adminstration in the of the history United States. Bush and Cheney clearly broke the law and should be punished.
What if Democrats win too many seats??
Fri Nov 03, 2006 at 07:48:28 AM PDT
I've blogged this same issue on another site but felt it was worthwhile to have the KOSarians consider it.
We've all been paranoid that the Diebold and the Repubs are going to hack the vote so they can hold onto the Senate and the House. Perhaps, but consider this.
Given that the Repubs are so far behind in so many races any attempt to "modify" the outcome of the election for them to hold onto the House and/or Senate will certainly result in a national cry of "FOUL!" subjecting each and every race to scrutiny that will reveal them for the vote rigging fascists they really are.
"FixAVote" website
Mon Oct 30, 2006 at 05:20:30 AM PDT
Yep, you're reading this correctly. A web site has been set up where the owner of the site, Darius Parker, is offering to fix the electronic vote so that it favors his "clients" Parker won't say whether the site is a satire or not, but here's the scary part-he's been contacted by 30 political campaigns to date asking him what he can do to help them with their elections.
Bush states he never meant "stay the course"
Mon Oct 23, 2006 at 06:00:40 AM PDT
When I woke up I logged into the thinkprogress website and there in front of me was a clip of George Stephenopoulous interviewing W. During the interview Bush said that he never supported "staying the course" in Iraq. After slapping myself to make sure I was really awake I played the clip again and W still said the same thing!!! Ok. So let me get this straight, war is peace, ah... up is down, pollution is clean, um...ah...torture guarantees freedom....(snap)ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.(gets into car and drives northbound in the southbound lane)
Thank you for smoking!

Raise a cheer for Ecuador!!
Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 10:27:09 AM PDT
Just read an wonderful article how Ecuador just told Occidental Petroleum to pack its bags and get out of Dodge.
In 1982 Occidental leased 200,000 hectares of land from Ecuador for oil exploration and exploitation while getting that country to front the costs for set up and exploration. In 2000 Occidental tranferred 40% or its interest in the oil fields to a Canadian Company who subsquently transfered them to Chinese company without notifying or seeking the permission of Ecuador. (Kinda like someone borrowing your car and then leasing to someone else to make a profit).
The Reagans and The Path to 9/11
Fri Sep 08, 2006 at 01:24:22 PM PDT
Does anyone happen to remember when the Repubs forced CBS to stop the airing of the mini-series about Ronald Reagan because they felt it presented an unbalanced portrayal of Reagan? In case you forgot, here's the link
