Bernie Sanders on Last Night's Colbert
Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 08:58:54 AM PDT
Seantor Sanders (I-VT) was on last night's episode of the Report. After seeing Obama on the Daily Show I was happy to see another strong progressive talking with Stephen.
If you missed last night's episode it is a must watch clip. Both Bernie and Colbert had their 'A' games.
There are too many snark diaries
Thu Mar 15, 2007 at 05:25:55 PM PDT
There are way too many snark diaries. The amount of time people are spending on reading and writing these is horrible.
We could be putting so much energy into the movement. Rather, we just write snark.
CT-SEN: New Hard-Hitting Lamont Ad (w/poll)
Sun Jul 02, 2006 at 06:41:51 PM PDT
The Lamont campaign released a more somber ad today attacking the Senator for his support of the Bush energy policy. Its a very well made ad with my favorite "So do we" support at the end.

Texas Redistricting Case and Voting Rights Act renewal!
Wed Jun 28, 2006 at 09:40:22 AM PDT
I feel like I might've cracked the case at one of the reasons why the far-right House Republicans sought to block the renewal of the Voting Rights Act that is due to expire soon.
The Texas Redistricting Case. They were waiting to see the outcome of this to see what changes they wanted to make to the VRA.
They're probably outraged that some of DeLay's manufactured map was overturned.
Reply in the comments with your thoughts about my analysis.
I haven't seen these dots connected anywhere else.
UPDATED!: Senate votes 66-34 on flag burning ammendment (W/ ROLL CALL)
Tue Jun 27, 2006 at 03:34:29 PM PDT
One vote shy. PHEW!
Its a shame that with this being a non issue that they can make it an issue that Dems have to shy away from because of the framing involved. No one wants to be for flag burning. And the Republicans have done a great job making it about that.
We're the patriots. Bring the troops home.
MSNBC.com has their take
"The Senate's scheduled vote represented the best chance in 15 years that the amendment could achieve the two-thirds majority required."
Darn! We just missed the best chance to pass it! What were we thinking?

The Estate Tax. Don't EVER call it the Death Tax. + thoughts on Luntz
Mon Jun 26, 2006 at 06:40:29 PM PDT
Warren Buffet today said that the estate tax must stay. "I would hate to see the estate tax gutted," Buffett said at a Manhattan news conference with the Gateses about his donation. "It's a very equitable tax," Buffett said. "It's in keeping with the idea of equality of opportunity in this country, not giving incredible head starts to certain people who were very selective about the womb from which they emerged."
Democrats need to seize on this. The wealthy among us don't want the estate tax repealed. Republicans are using it for political gain.
Americans always think they're going to be that rich so they support cutting taxes for the rich. There was a great line in a West Wing episode years ago written about that. It was written by Frank Luntz. A professor asked me why Americans support cutting taxes for the rich in class once and I remembered the line and said it and scored brownie-points.
